Did you make any changes to the dungeon area in the beginning as well (for example, my suggestions on battle balance or fixing the way the sprites simply disappear after the battles)? Or is it just the revamped village sequence?

Either way I owe it to you to play through this, but if it's only the village sequence then I think I'll wait for a real next version, if you know what I mean.

I look forward to seeing what you've done.
 
Yeah, I haven't got round to revamping the rest of the stuff you suggested yet... Though I have installed KCG's Pseudo 3D battle camera to make it more interesting.

By the way, all updates on this are going to have to wait until chapter two, which I have now started on. If I keep changing the two different files, I'm just going to confuse myself. I figured since I employ the use of an overworld, I should have all the chapters consecutivley.
 
The game looks awesome.
I love the screenies!
But I can't download it! Fucking mega upload, I tried 4 times, it wont let me.
I wait the 45 seconds and then when the download is suppose to start, firefox gets me an error message.

It's probably my pc/settings fault, but is it possible to upload your new version on an another site as well.. like mediafire?

I'll try download again later.
 
From what I've played it's pretty good. The scenes are amazing. But there's something about the flow of the game that makes it feel choppy. Maybe its was the long walk from one town to another fighting the same monsters with the same strategy and listening to the same song over and over. It disconnect me from the game.  The story is perfectly clear. and the battles are challenging to were I have to pause to heal every couple turns. A variety of monsters on the field and a battle song is something you could consider in the next chapter. 

Right now I'm stuck. I just finished the "shoot the pirates" game. Enrique got on the ship and left me behind. And I'm suppose to catch up with them. If I stand on the corner of the dock outside the pirates fort and hit enter Dejack will say something like "I don't have time for sailing". Which makes me think there's suppose to be a boat there but there isn't.

Edit: Nvm, I figured out how to use the rope.
 
I finally finished it. It took me about six hours. The game really gets good once you get to the pirates. It took me forever to figure out how to roll that boulder onto the switch. I'm not sure how many times I reset that thing. I almost came on to ask for help until I finally figured out I had to leave the room to solve it.
Btw, in the room were you adjust the water levels you can't go back up the stairs. Which bugged me cause I wanted to quite but I didn't want to do the whole thing over again since I couldn't save.

The game was actually longer then I expected. I thought it was going to finish with the Pirate dood but it kept going. I know I missed most of the sidequests and never opened a lot of the locked chests. Most of the treasures weren't really treasures either. It was always a Tonic or Needle thing. I read that it was going to be about a 4 hour game and you'd think with 6 hours I'd figure everything out. But you really stumped me at parts where I don't even know what I'm suppose to do next. Like the iron keys I got. I tried them on doors and boxes but I never figured out what they went to. Or when I chased the guy on the horse, I went in the opposite direction cause I didn't think I'd have to revisit that area again and I ended up wasting time.
 
Dah, stuck again. Though I got farther.

This game's still solid, but the second dungeon is a bit weaker than the first. There are too many sequences where the player goes into a room and it's basically "Have fun! Hope you find the right random tile to step on!" Gotta have a little more direction for the player.

I don't even want to divulge how much time I wasted in that ballpushing room before I realized you had to leave and hit switches in a different room. That's pretty counter-intuitive for a puzzle like that, and there was nothing indicating that I would need to do that.

During that part when you're stuck on the lower area cause the pirates are throwing rocks down the ladder, it took me flippin forever to realize I could randomly jump on those little ripples in the pool of water. There's nothing even sticking up...that's got to be just a little more obvious.

Right now I'm trying to find my way around that engine in the Galleon. I have no idea what to do after I turn on the furnace. I'm just surrounded by useless switches and a door with a bolt that has to be moved somehow. Out of ideas.

Read the sign that's next to the lever that operates the pipe.

But as for everything else you've said, I'll fix that. You've got a point actually, but I didn't think it was "Look for a random tile". For instancethe waterfall, you can see the passage behind it.

I'll fix them though, and try to make the solution more obvious.

That's the one that talks about the numbered switches, right? I've read that, but the first one in the sequence isn't even accessible from where I am at the moment.

After lighting the furnace, you pull the lever next to the furnace on the other side of the pipe. Then go back and and pull the pipe that lowers the lever. Then you go to the lower section and start inputting the combinations.
 
Alright, I got it now. I really liked that puzzle once I figured out the "addition" element.
So I finished it, and I'm really impressed by the time and effort you put into this. The sheer length of this is incredible. With a few story tweaks, it could have been a stand-alone game. But with all the chatter about Zagolth and whatnot, it's clear that there's much more going on. I have to say that so far, that stuff is less interesting than the more immediate concerns with the Amrados and hogs, but I'm sure that will be developed more in the next chapters. But seriously, there were like half a dozen times when I thought "Ah, it's probably going to wrap up now" and it kept going!

Man, Dejack's a good sport to be so easily talked into chasing a horseback riding guy on foot. And those farm people were remarkably unconcerned about an escaped convict prowling around their property.  :grin: Still, good times, and the ending scene was chilling.

Another thing I'm stunned by is the size of these overworld maps. That takes so much discipline. I'm hoping that more members play this thing because they'll learn a lot about what you can produce if you're really ready to sink some time into the program.  So bravo, Bruno/HarryE.
 
I didn't finish the game yet, but I gotta say this is very well done.
I love the mapping and the dungeon design.
The story is interesting but hasn't impressed me yet.
Some battles are challenging and I love that.
Anyway I'll give you more once I finish it, but man, very good work so far!
