What are the need to knows of scripting?

Isn't that a good question? Seriously, what should every beginner, know about scripting (Ruby) other than you should always comment, must always end your "end" keyword. But what else?

The need to knows about scripting is Logic. Aside from that, you can always pull syntax out of manuals, and habits develop as you script (good or bad.)

Logic is just the what when where why and hows.

What should I do to do this? When should I do it? Where in the code is best for it? Why am I doing it? How do I do it best?
