Hey guys, Nemesis here. Haven't made a topic in a year, decided it's about time I do! Now, for those of you who're hoping for this to be a Part III release, sorry! It's not. It's the Revamp II Release of The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone. Now last time I had a revamp release, I focused mainly on the dungeons and such. This time however, though I've done a few dungeon and battle/game-play enhancements, the main focus has been story development. So what exactly does this Revamp have that the last release didn't?

1.) New Introduction preceeding the events at the Preserve
2.) Complete overhaul of the major scenes that take place at the town of Bookasa
3.) Complete overhaul of one of the most crucial scenes of the game; the scene regarding the Philosopher's Stone (Forested House)
4.) Redid the Winland Forest dungeon
5.) Placed the "Monster Soul Encounter System" (see Features section)
6.) Small tidbits and tunings (like item acquisition message box, better system skins, etc.)

So, is it worth playing the Revamp?
Well, unless you really want to, I wouldn't suggest replaying the entire game (so far, it's about 7 hours long). Instead, if you're interested in the project, I'd recommend playing the first hour and a half to two hours of the game, to experience the major scenes of the revamp. Of course, I added some small things, here and there (new items, cutscene-based battles at the mansion, etc.), but nothing crucial. I'm actually making this thread, not for the release, but rather to establish a progress thread here. The revamp release is just a bonus. Plus, I want to release the game at RMN, along with some German forums as well. Now with this out of the way, I can finally focus on continuing on with the game!

1.) Fully Custom Menu System, distinguishing feature being: the ability to draw and equip spells from elemental orbs, and equip learned techs.
2.) Fully Custom Battle System, distinguishing feature being: using the unique CR system to combat. Instead of using up MP, or waiting on an ATB, combat is balanced through waiting down CR times, each of which is different for whatever attack you chose to execute.
3.) Explore over 260+ Maps as you venture through the world of The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone, undertaking a journey consisting of (so far) atleast 6-7 hours of gameplay!
4.) Battle over 75+ Monsters, each of which employs atleast 2 different moves, with bosses ranging from 5 - 7 moves each! Enemies also display resistance to corresponding elements.
5.) Mold characters through drawing different spells (from 6 elemental orbs, each with 3 spells),  drawing summons (from 6 summon orbs, each corresponding to an element), and learning and equipping character techniques, each unique to that character alone (this release has a new tech. for each character!)
6.) Unique Monster Soul Encounter System: No more random encounters! Souls of monsters roam dungeons as you do, spawns fiends upon encounters. Get anywhere near them, and they'll charge at you! Souls vary in sizes; larger souls spawn more difficult battles, while smaller ones yield easier fights. Move tactically as you explore your surroundings!

Drawing from personalities and traits from real-life people, take the roles of Marjan, and his friends, as they tread through the unknown world of Terra. Hopelessly lost and scattered, explore the world to not only seek out lost friends, but also to find the way back home. The journey back will be ardous, and may even seem impossible, but within every dark blanket, there always shines a glimmer of hope. For you, it will be the Philosopher's Stone. What is this stone however? What does it do? How is it used? As you dive deep into the world of  The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone, discover what it means to be human; seek out the complex duality of man; and uncover the underlying theme of darkness and purity that lays dormant within the heart of every soul.

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/ ... -chars.png[/img]

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/Marjan.png[/img]
Name: Marjan
Weapon: Broad Sword
Personality: The main character of The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone, Marjan is less serious than leader roles should be. Although at times he is downright stupid, he does keep his friends in track, always keeping the party in focus of what's truly important. Though sometimes a bit hasty, and with bad eye for forseeing consequences, although he's not the ideal hero, he will manage to perservere when times get rough.
In Battle: Marjan's main focus is on attacking through physical means, his most deadly of attacks being Quick Cut and Vesper Blade. Quick Cut is especially potent due to its ability to ignore enemies defense, though Vesper Blade is far more powerful. His stats are above average, being ideal for a frontman party member.

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/Farris.png[/img]
Name: Farris
Weapon: Pistol
Personality: Close friends with Marjan, Farris shares a similar sense of humor, as well as one of integrity. Although he is less hasty than his counterparts, Farris will rather dive into danger than leave his friends hanging. With a good eye for realizing consequences, Farris will often be the voice of reason behind those of his companions.
In Battle: Farris is relatively well-off using his techs. (Explosion Bullet and Fire Blaze). Although pretty potent as an attacker, Farris can also be molded into a good mage if the player choses to do so. His intelligence is high, though his defense and agility are relatively low.

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/Fausto.png[/img]
Name: Fausto
Weapon: Hand-Gun
Personality: Being the obnoxious and rude fellow of the party, Fausto will be the source of mischeif and crude humor in the game. Although loved by his companions, he is often downright mean to them. He keeps his eyes on the prize, and will go through any means to reach it. With a skewed sense of morality, he will often convince the party to go along with actions that may not always seem very right. He makes for a good joke or two though.
In Battle: Like Marjan, Fausto is relatively well-balanced in his stats, being most potent in attacking via techs. (Detonator and Blood Shot).

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/Kris.png[/img]
Name: Kris
Weapon: Halberd
Personality: Strong willed, courageous, and a tinge of humor, Kris is one of the most solid members to the party. With an absolute sense of morality and judgement, Kris will often be the voice of reason (unless, of course, the party is doing something he doesn't know about). Although so, he does have a slight temper, and it may be a bit difficult to calm it down.
In Battle: With almost no agility or intelligence, Kris is an all out fighter, and a total failure as a mage. Using his strong attacks and even stronger techs (Red Fury increasing Atk. and Axe Hurl being deadly), Kris is good for normal combat, and very potent in boss battles (with the ability to increase the Atk. of other characters).

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/Christy.png[/img]
Name: Christy
Weapon: Bow & Arrow
Personality: Sweet, cheerful, and a postive outlook on life, Christy will often serve as the source of motivation and optimism to the party. Like Kris, she shares the strong sense of morality, and will often stand adamant to choices she feels are not right. Regardless though, she will help her friends through thick and thin, even if she doesn't agree with what they are doing.
In Battle: Being a devastating mage, Christy is the complement to Kris, with low strength and defense, but very high intelligence and agility. Having Christy serves as a strong advantage to the battle line, with few enemies being able to withstand her barrage of spells. She can boost magic power through her tech., Arcane Wisdom, or knock enemies down with her melee tech., Layer Storm.

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/Zsu-Zsu.png[/img]
Name: Zsu Zsu
Weapon: Katana
Personality: Smart, courteous, and a little bit shy, Zsu Zsu will often serve as the logical and pragmatic member of the party. Though it may not seem like it, she has the fire to assume the leadership role, with her strong judgement and benevolence towards her friends and companions. Although she does have strong moral character, she may feel obliged to bend the rules if it is for the betterment of her friends.
In Battle: Although relatively weak, physcially, Zsu Zsu has to potential to deal strong melee attacks through her tech. Triple Sword. Not only that, she is relatively potent in her ability to cast magic. Her defense and agility are mediocre, however.

http://www.gamingw.net/pubaccess/40275/Rachel.png[/img]
Name: Rachel
Weapon: Gloved Fists
Personality: Steadfast, brave, and focused, Rachel will often serve as the straightforward member to the party. Although determined, she often falls to insensitivity towards her friends without much intention. She is willing to undergo risk and danger for the greater good, and keeps an open mind to her possibilites.
In Battle: Like Kris, Rachel's focus lays mainly in her devastating melee attacks. Ineffective with magic, Rachel should be used most potently through her techs. (Tremor Fist and Feric Blast). Her defense however does not match the prowess of her physical strength.

Note: Above mentioned are 7 of the 14 main characters presented in the game. The remaining 7 are unplayable (that is, cannot participate in battle). They do however play a crucial role in the game's story development.

AWESOME! This was one of my favorites on 2k3 along with Naufrager (sp?) Crimson. I haven't played it in forever though. Good luck.

Oh yes! I played this game and enjoyed it.. A LOT. Unfortunately I ran into a bug in the mansion where fishing a Robot froze the game and Fausto kept dying even though he had 150 HP and only got dealt 30 damage or something.

Are these bugs fixed yet? If so, I'll go ahead and replay it, because this game was awesome.

I love you.

Seriously though, it's good to know that this thing is not dead yet. X3

It's nice to see an expanded world map. I wondered how you'd get to the "Rainbow City" or something when there were no other continents. XD

Also this is a bug from the original demo that you might've missed:
I swapped Farris for Cristy, and went for another shot at the Forest Guardian boss, and discovered two things.

One, her Flame spell, as well as Kris' Attack rasising skill had deequiped themselves. It appears when characters are moved out of the party their skills are uneqipped.
Two, she had two new ones out of nowhere.
http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/3120/bugskillta8.png[/img]
Ice Crystal and Restore. They're obviously not meant to be there as I loose them completely if I "Remove" them. When I swap her back out of the party and alter someone's skills who replaces her, she also looses the skills - and once again has her skills reset (though that'll be a system thing.)

So... somewhere something taught her those skills. Probably to easily test that boss there. ^^

One last thing however, why the heck does Marjan where armour when he's from OUR world? O_< I never really thought about it until I saw this revamp, but it just seems really weird.
*continues to watch download*

I hope battles are a bit easier in this version, though I might just have to grind a bit and make sure to use the Defend command.

EDIT: Bugs so far~
1. Farris event reappears in first Redmoon map when you close the menu.
2. Finding items around the reserves kills the very faint light beams picture. Item gain picture must be same ID as the effect ID.
3. In the Kris/Fausto dungeon, south of the map where you find a bridge peice and potion, there is a mapping error with the trees. The land is shaped like a U with a bridge in the middle. Should be easy to find.
4. There are several water/shore related mapping errors in the map north east of above mentioned one.
5. Same as first, but in camp scene map after control of Marjan is regained.

I started playing this game last year, but never finished it. I want to restart it and now I can play a new version! My computer plays music funny with rm2k games. It'll mute midi files when the program is open so I have to manually un-mute it, but then the .wav sound effects won't always play when their suppose to. It makes it harder for me to enjoy it.

The graphics and sounds make me nostalgic.

Maybe it's Vista? That sounds like something Vista was doing to my games in RM2k(3) when I had it. Otherwise maybe check your sound preferences?

Also XxNemesis29xX I hope you actually post again unlike in RRR. Posting once just to provide a game (even an amazing one) makes it seem like you aren't paying attention to critique and bugs. :\
BTW What is this "Eternal Dreams" that's mentioned in a file? Was this game originally called that? (The battle2.mid is also known as ED-Battle in it's data.) I'm just curious about those kind of things...

It's made with RM2k3, most likely an illegal translation. But does that make the game illegal? I'm not too sure. Even with 100% custom resources used. (But let's keep RM legal-ness out of the topic maybe? :x )

Allright, I've downloaded the game.  However, the midis don't work!  I'm not sure if its because they are associated with Windows Media Player (which, for some reason, doesn't play midis) so I reassociated them to Quicktime.  However, that didn't seem to work.  Anyone have any ideas?
