How to make a cool Earth like planet using photoshop

This is an extension to Sellous's tuturial, credit to him and me.
1. First make a new blank square sheet.
2. Render clouds with black and white as your two clolours.
3. Select gradient map, at the bottom of the layers box.
4. Choose chrome, the blue and mustard preset.
5. Then change the preset to look like picture one.

6. Next say ok to everything and you will have a map very similar to Sellous's.
7. Optional, if you want the planet to look misty render clouds.
8. merge visible layers into one, this part is critical don't not do it.
9. Then, filter, distort, sphereize 100%, for the globe effect, will look like pic 2.

Both globes with and without the cloud rendered mist.

Please comment on this tut and tell me what you think of it and how it could be improved.

mmm not so helpful, everyone who got the other tutorial right should do this without problems.... what you should post is a tutorial about making the second map Sellous showed, that would be amazing.

I don´t like that Tutorial... Sure, it´s helpful for a Planet_Tenmplate... but if you wanna make a real Planet like picture, you must have athmosphere, clouds ( beter ones ), beter water colors and different land-colors...

But.. for a Planet tempalte to workout..good

ForeverZero the second map in Sellous' thread was made with google image search and copy/paste.

If I didn't already know this stuff I'd be interested. I find it useful when I'm doing images for space-based projects and I need a couple planets to chuck in the background but I wouldn't use it for something really important.

Awesome Bro

C'mon guys, atleast say something positive, Just because YOU know how to do it, doesn't mean others do, Although I know how to do it, I still think this looks pretty good.
Nice work Aussie :)

ok.. jbrist is right...

It´s a good tutorial to start with creating Spheric Images. A bit more coloring and work.. and it is very cool.

I guess it is pretty basic; a better basic way to add clouds would be to create a another layer, render clouds to your liking and change the opacity of the clouds and lighting of the planet layer. thanks for the support jbrist, :*)

Sir Lord Biowulve, your thread was pretty sweet. Do u know a simple way to make different planets. The best I could do is this:

Everything else I made looked really dodgey.

an easy way... at the moment..nope... But.. in my opinion, it´s not difficult to create a Planet with my Tutorial... But i´m working with photoshop for 3 Years now.. So i´m not a beginner or advanced user...
