Help with weapon animations

Hi, im kind of new to RPG maker vx ace, and i was wondering if there is a way to make it so each weapon has a different animation. right now i have a basic attack and a gun. when i equip the gun it just raises the normal attack's damage, is there a way to make it use the animation i set it to use? thanks in advance!

thats what i tried, all it does when i equip the weapon is raises the damage, but still uses the basic attack animation ;-;

nevermind i figured out how, for some stupid reason when i change the basic attack animation, it wont let my other weapon animations play..
