Al'asuiaga'ta [Voice Acting Included!]

tabanner.jpg

~Introduction~

Al'asuiaga'ta is a short RPG that is meant to test how well voice overs would integrate into the program RPG Maker XP. As such, I didn't have to make an all-out-game for this. So, players will be starting off right at "the end" of the game. The first three bosses are the last three bosses of the game. From my eyes, I think the integration went well, but that doesn't mean I won't take feedback on what I could make better when I do create a full out game with a fully voiced cast. That's where VAA's gamers come in. As well as testing the solidarity of the overall package, I'm open to suggestions on how I could better implement the voices.

~What you need to play~

- Windows. Unless you know how to make a windows game work on Mac, I'm afraid RPG Maker won't work on your computer.
-150 MB worth of computer space.
-Everything else is supplied in the zip.

That's awesome! I have a full cast of voice actors in my game as well, it's still in development but it's coming along well. Good job! I'll give this a go. :)

Got any screens?

ok im listening to this, and if youre going for the whole cliche anime style then the voices are actually pretty well done (i dont mean cliche in a bad way). The jasmin voice was recorded and mixed pretty poorly though, sounds like it was made in a closet or something, anyways, besides that there really isnt much to talk about from what ive seen. not much to see as far as gameplay goes, but that was your intention I believe. The jessica voice is pretty cheesy though, and the background music doesnt blend very well with the overall vocals. In the alana battle, the main chick talking first has a very reverbed sound to her voice, you might want to edit that tone out. The pizzicato (i love this name, btw I used to use in my old rpgs) has a VERY low volume that gets overbalanced by the background music, which should NEVER be dominant when mixing vocals with music. Actually, on that note, almost ALL the voices in the vira battle are overpowered by the music. Drop the volume on that a bit.

tl;dr you want a clean vocal sound to blend well with all SE and BGM, so make sure you edit it correctly or its gonna sound very forced and not like a natural voice. i cant comment on the story because I have no idea whats what but its the epitome of anime.

^ Pizzicato is a win name; Agreed there. =D

Volume was certainly a balancing issue that I still need practice with, and thank you for pointing out the specific examples. Once I do a full game, I'll be sure to supply plenty of pics and proper balance within the SEs and BGMs.

^ Next time I release something game related to the general public, it'll be a 10-20 hour RPG with voice work, original art, music, and hopefully plot. Because I'm just that ambitious. @_@;;

Using Voice Acting is a pain, but I am managing it myself. I am a veteran of the VAA myself! I usually do radioplays, but am planning a full voice over game. I have gotten the voice acting down (I try to combine pauses within the text along with auto playing of the text in certain scenes that shouldn't be waiting on the player to push enter. Thus allowing me to mix the entire product with SFX and music, at certain times, so that I do not have to play around with all the different sounds IN GAME).

Anyway, nice test run! And yes, volume is difficult. I havent completely fixed the volume in mine, just yet. It will take select balancing. I may have to bring all the lines into my cool edit pro and try to match their volumes in that. Try to lay them out and compare each one. It can be hard though, given how many different VAs tend to use completely different recording equipment and methods. Luckily I DO have a few professionals and those with equipment that rival the professionals, haha. Best tip though, is pick out the LOUDEST person and the most QUIET person. Try to bring the loudest down to the quietest persons level. Then bring everyone elses to the same. Then try for a hard limit or something simular. You could do it vice versa. But it really depends on the quality of the lines. Though a careful tip for those whom have background noise you cannot noise reduce; music is your friend.

ANYWAY! Just a few tips for you. Like I said, I am a radioplay producer, so if you ever have any questions, go ahead and PM me or something (better luck on the VAA if you go there enough. Same user name).

Best of luck!

^ I've seen you around!

Many thanks for the tips. And yeah, the different mics are like selecting a character in Blazblue! Different mastery all together for each one of them. XD

I stalk VAA and instigate debates, so I'll go there if I need anything. Thanks for bumping this topic up! =D

(Meanwhile, I try to figure out how the Jessica battle has over 500 views, 100 game downloads, and very few subscribers! XD)
