Shouldn't it be

$game_variables[id] =+1

Because if you do

$game_variables[id] = true

Wouldn't that just turn those variables on and not change them ?
And =+1 increases the variables by 1, so I would try it.

If you want to set a variable to a certain number, you do

$game_variables[id] = 365

im assuming this shows up in the main menu. is there any way for you to call it up when you press "c" or some other button durring gameplay instead of showing up in the menu?
