Will RPG Maker VX kill XP?

I actually think XP and VX will survive together.
I've tried the VX demo, and so far I like what they did with the front view battle system over XP's but they should go with a side view one.
However I don't like the way they did layers. Sure its more user friendly, but I like picking layers and the mobility that comes with editing on those.
One cool new thing is the presets they have for overworld maps and their ability to (easily) loop them (if thats the right terminology).
But thats all i've tested so far. I dont know Japanese, so I don't feel like getting to far into it. But from what I've tried I think VX is more like a step to the side rather than up or down.

Well each have their ups and downs. Xp is less user-friendly then VX. XP has some features that you may prefer over some of VX's. VX has some features that you prefer over XP. I'd say it's just a choice of preference. Typically people prefer XP over VX considering the VX rtp isn't the best in their eyes, which I understand. For some people its a pain to spend time they could be making their game on setting passibility and priority. XP's rtp is fine. Most people use the default tilesets or small edits of them. Personally I agree with what Nox said, its a step to the side not down nor up. But to some people depending on their preferences it could be better or worse. Its not outstanding nor horrible- it's acceptable in my opinion.

*sigh*

At first I thought nothing was worse than "ARRPEEGEE MAUkER ... ECCSSBEE!!"...

...but this one took the cake. I mean, WHY did they hire that guy again!? Especially after the comments on RMXP promotional video!? Doesn't Enterbrain look at comments on youtube or anything!?

Bad advertising aside, I still think it's a crappy program. I tried the english trial (fan translation), and I didn't see any great improvements over XP. Vehicle system? Been done via a script. And it's easy to use.

Heck, this doesn't even allow us to change our windowskins through the database! We have to manually name another windowskin "Window" for it to work...

I'm definitely NOT going to buy it. I'll download the english trial, and if I think it's worth it, I'll find a crack. I'm not wasting my money on this.

EDIT: I forgot to comment on the layer system as well. A tileset limit? What the hell?! I can't even map properly thanks to this. And we can't even setup the passablity permanently. One has to set it over and over again for each map. Seriously, I don't get it. Why would one want to use this!? What the hell was enterbrain thinking?!

I'm not using this.

Oooh, and here's another on GW.

Eh... RMXP runs as smooth as RMVX does, for me...

Also, I tried the trial (with the fan translation). At first I was impressed, but when I tried mapping, I was seriously disappointed. I'd recommend VX to somebody who is just beginning to use the RM series, but for those of us who are used to the RM2k/3/XP mapping system, it's kinda difficult to shift.

To me, VX seems like a step up from RM2k, and a step down from Rm2k3. Oh, and I'm not really fond of the square graphics either.

Well, that's my two bits.

Nope, I don't think I'll be using it.

I like XP alot more then VP
and even then as soon as i get the "budget" i'm movieng on to HeroEngine

cuz really RMXP/VP isn't that powerful if you compare it to other Engines/Programs

What is this "VP?" It's VX, dude.  I'm not using it, good mapping is freaking impossible with this godforsaken engine.

Oye. I understand this thread is still relatively new, however bumping it with a deadend reply was totally unnecessary.Click.
