While You Work..

Usually for me, it depends on the time of day. I usually work at night, so it's often Mozart. Right now I'm just listening to some Miserere (Gregorio Allegri). I find that listening to classical/choral music eases the mind so you can work faster and be more focused on the task at hand. However, if it's midday, I blast some of my favorite rap songs...(yes I listen to rap and classical music. I'm that cool. ;) )

Electronica like Eat Static or Ozric Tentacles is defintely the best for when I'm working on something. It's not the kind of music that takes alot of attention to appreciate, so I can have it just going in the background while I'm spriting. If I'm doing something music related, like actually composing a song for a game, then (obviously) I'm not listening to anything but that. But other than that, yeah, electronica is the way to go. Of course mellow stuff like Chroma Key or Godspeed You! Black Emperor works wonders as well.

I listen to Michiru Yamane's soundtrack for Castlevania's Lament Of Innocence.
I think it's a great soundtrack, moody, dark, classical but with so many touches of modern music as well.

Ambiance, techno, goth or instrumental. Nothing with lyrics while I'm working on a project because everything gives me ideas and I get easily distracted by most music as I always try to listen to the lyrics.

Some nice bands in the genres listed; Liteblue (Techno-reggae), Daft Punk (Trance/techno depending on how you see it), Theater of Tragedy (Goth ambiance), anything by Trans-Siberian Orchestra (Namely Wizards in Winter and Carol of the bells), oh and Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries (I love that piece).

The music spaz with shush now.

i mostly listen to daft punk i think, altough i never ever listen to that kind o music except then :P, also ff 8-10 music, and ofcourse some metal (can't go a day without metal ;))

I have my whole playlist on shuffle, but I find Chihiro Onitsuka to be very emotion-inducing for me. If I'm not feeling emotionally sober enough (being hyped up on sugar or caffiene and whatnot), listening to Infection usually has me involuntarily crying within three of its five and a half minutes.

...Then again, I usually start singing along and getting distracted. Darn...

If I'm writing a scene, I'll try and listen to the music that will be heard during that scene. If I'm doing something else (mapping, editing the database, eventing, etc.) I usually have shows like Friends or Québec sitcoms playing on tv.

When I'm working on generally anything, I play the various midi's, soundtracks, and default RPGMXP songs on my computer. I import all the songs I like to listen to into my games BGM file, so I can just play it in sound test. If there's a midi that sounds too bleak, I raise the pitch, and it's like listening to a different song!

I usually listen to whatever BGM I'm planning on using for a particular map, so I can get a proper feel for the mood and whatnot, but when I'm, say, working on the database or otherwise anything but maps, I'll listen to pretty much anything on my computer (Usually Chevelle, Coheed & Cambria, Steve Vai, etc.)

I just listen to catchy music, whatever it may be. I need something to get my mind off the fact that creating games can be a hassle.

I don't write on the computer, so it really doesn't affect a mood. While writing I'm either sitting in my window or outside with a notebook without changing the music I had on before. It's mostly for the sake of having sound, if it's silent I don't work well.

I whistle while I work :D

Seriously, though, I usually listen to music related to whatever I'm working on. If I'm doing a scene, I listen to the music that will play in that scene. If I'm doing graphics, I listen to something related.

(Example: My grtp entries are based around an island/jungle setting, so I listen to the Hare and Guu soundtracks.)

well, right now i'm listening to the Discovery Channel (that new documentary, "Planet Earth" is on and i've wanted to see it. ^_^)

but usually it's AFI (they're gods, y'know). or other bands. or electronica.

lately though i've been listening to the Guilty Gear OSTs. (best soundtrack EVAR, except for, of course, Zelda) Guilty Gear > most fighting games.

but yeah. that's what i listen to.

It's usually the sound of whatever I'm using for reference. Either that or basketball since my TV's almost always tuned into March Madness. Recently it's been a tranquil town theme from Tales of Symphonia so I can edit the Menu_Compilations posted here closer to something from the actual game.
