well at the moment, the scripter and template maker are being paid. also when our map artists start working they will make a small amount of money.

but in the end all members will be paid. it comes down to how much we make at the end.

we are in the middle of working out a points system over on our forums that will give members a garanteed end payment :)

:) im glad you think so. Alot of people on this forum seems to think im not being fair.

but the jobs that im most desprate for do get paid. and the team understand this. as if we dont get them bits done. none of us will be making money :)

lol

while im here its a good opertunity to ask for any landscape artist to get in touch if they are looking for a team in a long term project

i was being sarcastic btw, sorry i didnt make it more obvious so what happens if you sell no copies at all? what happens to all the people who didnt get paid during the game making process?

sorry I dont understand what you mean with the planning living off 1 game. I currently have 2 games in dev. I do plan on paying out of my own pocket. and thats why when the points system is up it will work like a bank. I will put money in there when i get it (about $50 a week at first) and that would be in a pay pal account that is held by a trusted member and myself.

IF! the game does not get finished. or does not sell. then that money will be distributed through the members with points.

I know it does not sound finished cause this was only started a few weeks ago and our director (meticlan) will be starting work on a phpbb tool that will distribute points for work. each piece of work will be rated (and given points) by not me. but meticlan and the section leaders.

I have never even heard about that game... I will edit this when i read what is on that link...

also that story is very out of date. I will post the new one up soon (its got some of the same ideas but alot has changed)

may want to look into what?

Ok I have watched and read alot of the text.

First, I would like to say, WOW! that game looks soo cool :D

Second. I dont see where you got that conclusion. this game is set on earth, in a Time like that of the Victorians, Also we have no magic... I did not see much about the story in that site. the story is VERY short. when compared to this game....

we also only have one world. Its based on earth 250 million years after humans went extinct. Please do tell me what you see as the same?

You're aiming at a too definitive scale, we're talking about a broad all round proposal. Dreamfall is much like your game in several senses. Where I'm up to, Zoe is caught in the parallel dimension 'Arcadia'. She discovers there was a war several years ago, and a religious race had saved the Magical land. This race forced their ways onto the magical civilisation, and sought out and killed anyone who stood in their way. It's illegal to talk about them in a bad way, talk about magical products, talk about the war itself. There is a 'faction' of rebels who feel that the belief of this Technological (but religious) race is wrong and that they should have their own say even if it means force.

Being an adventure game, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is rich in graphics, dialogue and at most, it's awesome Storyline. I'm no where near a quarter way. I've played it for about 18 hours yesterday.

Ahhh, I see what you mean about the not talking about a past war. well I am thinking about getting the game. now anyway :D

but I did notice that on the review on the site I was shown it says the game is less then 15 hours long :S

but I will look into where my story has ideas that are close to DreamFall and I will change bits if needed. but the story we are working on now is starting to move away from the original brief so i dont know when i can post a accurate new story.

but thank you very much for letting me know about this. it is much appreciated :D

and good luck on the game :D

we do have a little of the female tempalate ready. but we keep doing seven on it, and it does look good. but we want it to look better. we MAY get seven sprited without a template so can look alot better, also she will have more frames of animation then ANY other character.

but i dont know. I will look into getting one done in the next few days to show you :)

ewwwwww.... i feel so dirty for bumping this topic.

please close it and leave this community.
I really hope and im sure many others do also
that....

THIS GAME SHOULD FAIL....

UNREALISTIC AIMS, IMPOSSIBLE TARGETS and XCUMASOFT!

To those who say it's exactly like Dreamfall: Dreamfall is a LOT like the previous title in the game's series :P...a LOT. (Has played both) both are excellent, but hey, games are going to be simillar...is this a reason not to play them? WoW is like a lot of other MMORPGs, but instead it has a base of 6-9 million subscribers and growing. Several popular games (Take Halo as another good example) take existing gameplay ideas, and even basic (and some even go beyond basic) ideas of the story and make their own thing from it. Halo 3's story is a dime a dozen, and its gameplay is nothing new or special...and yet you don't really see a lot of people complaining about it, do you? ;)

To uzumakishade: Do you get paid for a job (ANY job) before you do any work, or after work is completed? Why should working on a game be any different? I can understand people wanting to ensure they get paid no matter what (this is where contracts and mutual agreements come into play) seeing as this is an amature community and there is a risk of not getting paid at all for time and effort/resources consumed...but I also think it's a little pretentious for people to demand money when nothing has been made, and before a contract has even been agreed upon.

Now, if the person has a history of doing exceptional work, always being on time with updates as to the status of said work, and has never bailed out on a contract, then I'd say they have more of a right to ask for payment up front. But to complain outright about the way they are setting up their system for payment is ridiclious and counter-productive. If you disagree with it, fine...but unless you're an artist looking for work in this project, there's really no reason for you to complain at all.

Artist are more than free to set up themselves in the classifieds/Looking for work section of ths site to ask for payment up front. Just as game makers have every right to (for a PAID project) to ask that those involved wait until the end for several reasons.

Look at how many projects on the site are NOT looking to pay those involved? Be thankful this is one of the rare ones willing to pay people for their work, not just ask for help.

I also may be a little biased, as I paid an artist upfront, but wasn't delivered the artwork I requested, and it took over 5 months to get my money back (Thankfully). Please look at both sides of the coin before sounding off like that.
