Stuff you never/rarely use

I hardly used the approach hero command, I used to when I made my eventing follow the leader system, but the catiplillar script put an end to that.

Change Transparent Flag .. What the hell does that do?

Yh - I know I'm crap with RPG Maker, but I can't figure it out. Never used it before, and I doubt I ever will.

I dont use Input Number very much... I kinda know how it works, and I am sure if I looked at it a little more, I could figure it out, but I just hardly ever use them.

Loop... I dont use them...

I only figured out what hero transparency thing was a few days ago, and have loved it ever since!

umm....
I dont use hardly anything on the 2nd column on page 3... except for go to gameover or title.

Show text... I never use that, I dont know what the hell it does...

Just messing... I am not stupid ^_^

That creates conversations; speaking characters!!

I, for one, LOVE that command!!

Not too much of a fan of the "stop animation" check under options...

Guess I never got how it is useful yet...

It's useful for haveing camp fires or fires in the fireplaces of house. You can have fountains and lamps also using that feature.

Try this:

Start an event and make the graphic one of the fire graphics in the rtp.
Now put the "Fix Direction" on and the "Stop Animation" on.
Watch what happens when you play that map.

Oh...that's what that does...
I've been doing fire animations differently, but this is much faster...

..ok, I find it useful now :)

everything is useful, we just dont use it because we dont try new things. for example, changing window skin, changing the sounds (ME, SE, BGM, etc..) and other things from page2, they are useful for games where you have different races. Say, orc and human. If player is an orc, BGM's are different from human's, also window skins. A very complete game uses everything RPG maker has to give.

Everything you said made sense until you said that.

You could make a very good "complete" game using very few of the eventing options. Why force yourself to utilize all the commands, your game will become a mess in most cases and lack consistency.

I don't use Change Encounter, never used change fog color tone, haven't used change picture color tone yet, name input processing and I haven't used most of the in battle event commands because I'm only really tackling that now.

I never use the select thingy (why use the select thingy if you have a right mouse button?).
I also never used the soundtest tool (if I want to listen to music, I use a MP3 Player).
I never used the change Title thing and the Select RTP.
And I also never used the about window (is there someone who actually reads that thing?).

Name Input Processing, Stop SE, anything to do with loops, Change Windowskin, Change Class.
That's all I can think of.

I never use most of the stuff on Page 3. Mainly cos I'm using Mr.Mo's SBABS.

I don't use Name Input
Stop SE.

I used Input processing once, for a conditional to see if it was <0, if the player pressed any buttons at all. Otherwise, I just use the Button Press in the COnditional Statements tab.

I read it once. Not very helpful. I find the right-click "What's this?" a lot more helpful then anything in the help file.

Hmm...

>The loop.
>input number
>Exit Event Processing
>Change Weapons
>Change Armor
>Change Save Access
>Change Menu Access
>Change Transparent Flag
>Prepare Transition
>Execute Transition
>Rotate Picture
>Change EXP
>Change Level
>Change Parameters
>Change Equipment

Change Transparent Flag > Never figured out what it's for.
Loop/Break Loop > There's nothing this can do that you can't do with a seperate event page set to auto start or parallel process. Which makes your eventing easier to handle anyway.
Input Number > I never make future or modern games so I guess I've never ran into an instance where the player would need to input a pass code.

Hiding the main character. Great for some cutscenes & other uses. :)

One thing I've never used was the built-in picture rotating. The silly thing is broken. Try rotating something 90/180/270 degrees and you'll see what I mean.

ofc there are some that arent really necessary, unless you want to create some effects.
