That's just pixel art :p Any sprite of that size is likely to have eyes like that, for practical reasons. The same is true for scripts, (haha, on topic!): There are some conventions that will occur and recur endlessly, because of the way the engine works. However, regardless of how many people have written the same things before you, by doing so you are still creating something of your own ,and you have the rights to do whatever you want with it.
