I sort of dis agree with that statement. People are recruiting for they're games because they have a vision and KNOW it cant be done by a one man/woman team. .. I think its a good thing to have groups or teams working together.
I totally agree. some people only make a game for fun, however others are trying to make a good game, one that'll be remembered.
not everyone can script, sprite, map and create sounds - and do it well. yeah, you could download random stuff, but then you get a random GAME.
I think groups can make better games than a single person would.

Lets see I that question sure takes me back xD, I around age 7 creating games on paper with story books to go along with them, my first RPG Maker program was RPGMaker95, I remember when I didn't even realize how to use a switch, but after many trials A mastered switches then variables and can make anything event based. I never read any tutorials even though looking back they could of saved a hell of a lot of time. Now It seems very easy for me to pick things up. I thought the scripting was gonna be challenging but I picked it up the same way I learned switches. I would have to say all in all its hard to be a self taught game maker, it took years and alot of work. I suggest reading tutorials any chance you get and learning from the experienced it will save you literally years of time lol.
