RPG maker VX?

Enterbrain said so.

Its not thathard to fix RMXP's problems, speed up the Event Interpreter, stop having it redraw frames when nothing is happening, and its pretty much fix'd right there.

Well Ludzix those screens you have shown are a god send, it has shown that there is indeed a script editor and those extra features are also very nice indeed, I guess you can't trust free website translations :)

There also seems to be an extra zoom in/out as well
1/1
1/2
1/4
1/8

Can anyone tell if there are extra layers?! That would be a major addition to help get rid of the need for events being used in place of tiles. I'm not complaining about that system, but I'd much rather use normal layer drawing than events for tiles.

Also, what's the little yellow guy with the arrows next to the tile editing panel? Anyone have a theory?

They might be tilesets, as they are directly underneath the tile graphics which would be great having more than one tileset graphic per map, but I could be wrong.

Although I would opt for the layers.

Actually I think that you can use more than one tileset in one map..

what do you think that icon with character's template means ? at the top..

I don't know there seems to be quite a few changes in the icons and I wouldn't like to speculate.

Although I will, it looks like there isn't a layer icon (unless it has changed) leading me to believe either that the a-e are the layers or that there is a more complex option for setting layers.

does it mention that there will be scrolling panomaras like rpg2k and if there are plans for an english version?

I couldn't tell you as I don't speak Japanese, but as far as the English version if they released RMXP in English then I would assume that they will carry on the trend and do so as apparently after the English release sales sky rocketed.

I would be happy with the layers. Multiple tilesets are too easy to fix with graphic editing.
There may be separate block set for each layer, like in 2k3 :)

Note that there is no option to change character's battle look, which leads me to think that there is no way (except changing the BGs or editing scripts) to make heroes visible :( Let's hope that the easy-ABS feature will be true.

Ha, a few steps forward, a few steps back. What can ya do? I'd say that I just wish they'd do it 'right' once and for all, but what they're giving is already pretty generous, so that'd be a stupid thing to say. I just hope those upgraded event features actually mean something significant because I just can't script to save my life. ':|

14 or so months

Wow more than a year for the US released! I guess if Enterbrain would like to minimize a major impact of a pirated version of the VX, they would have to release the US version 1 or 2 months after the japanese release.

That was a bad joke.

2007/10/9 announcement date every week after

It's ready for pre-orders

Urgh. They could have at least kept RMXP's RTP graphics. The characters look like something conjured from an RM2k character maker. Black outlines and everything, and nothing is proportioned properly. If they were posted on the resource analysis forums here people would have a fit :)

Wow, this will change things up.

The artwork looks gorgeous. Generic of course but I'm secretly a sucker for stuff like that.

The sprite style on the other hand seems like a step back. Unlike many people I actually liked RMXPs style. The one it seems VX is using reminds me of the very first Final Fantasy games. The bad mapping in the screen shots probably contribute but I can't see how you can do good maps with that. (I'm looking at it with a very restricted point of view at the moment).

The Battle Screens make RMXPs battle system look good, and I didn't even like it too much. I mean, a front view battle system with no character battlers! Looks like the poorly put together a front view system with a side view hud. Since 2k3 they have taken 2 steps backwards. As you can tell I like side view battle systems.

I'm glad they brought face sets back though. The ones shown look pretty good, although of course they will be shunned everywhere jsut for being RTP.

The discussions already finished but I wouldn't have believed they took away RGSS unless I seen proof with my own eyes. ...Which are currently being distracted by VX's sexy artwork. Damn.

Don't know if I will invest in this. Nothing has convinced me so far. We'll see...

I'm having trouble determining if there are Map Layers or not.

Look at the Event/Tile Layer buttons. There is one only Map Layer button.

The ABCDE below the Tile Selector doesn't indicate that there are going to be multiple layers. And the fact that none of the autotiles shown have a transparent background worries me as well, especially the one with the Fence on it with grass behind.

But I am probably wrong, I am just worried.

I wish they stuck to the same tileset style as RMXP. I just hope Character Sets are still individual files and provide at least 4x4 frames. I don't want to have to edit code just to bring back a feature that is good.

All I know is that I am going to be making a lot of crap with this before I can make anything good, because it looks like it is a WHOLE lot different than RMXP.

At least the worries that it's just an upgraded RMXP can be shoved aside. It's obviously a brand new engine.

I didn't intend to make a joke ^ ^; I was refer to the official information on the official website. Should have written it more clear :( If your comment isn't directed to me then pay this no mind lol.

I have to see the script editor first. I don't intend to use the default system anyway, but 60 FPS is kinda nice change.
