... so in other words XP is superior and VX is for the people who just want to make it all easy and use the RTP with no scripting or spriting abilities.
XP for experienced VX for newbs (not insulting anyone, i just mean people without experience and new to the RPG makers)
I wholeheartedly disagree. :box: VX works with custom tiles, and is slightly more forgiving to spriters in the characterset department (less frames). In addition, the scripting in VX tends to be cleaner because of the improvements from RGSS to RGSS2 (a lot of people make a modification that allows XP to use RGSS2).
I prefer VX, but I will admit that it's still lacking script-wise.

Aside from a cbs here or there, there are relatively few scripts worth anything. There are several gems, but the only consistently good scripters (in any community) seem to be Dargor and Yanfly.
Your choice of words doesn't seem to be the problem, it's the fact that you think that any one program is better than the other.

In my opinion the only thing XP has over VX is layers and unlimited tilesets (which is not necessarily a limit, if you know how to work with and around it).
VX has noteboxes :fap: (unlimited scripting oppurtunities there, just look at Dargor's and Yanfly's scripts), higher framerate (by default), and many functions that were lost with XP.
:venny: Neither program is "better". :venny: Just because you prefer one program doesn't give you the right to call all of us who use VX over XP "newbs".
It's not a question of "either... or", it's a question of "both... and". :thumb: I use both (VX more because I prefer it, but I XP quite a bit too).

Absolutely everything Ven said in the sticky is absolutely true, now and then.
The biggest thing was the loss of layers, but after that culture shock, VX works pretty much the same as XP. The mapping is really the only setback that I ever faced. Besides, the VX RTP doesn't really call for layers like the XP RTP does. Once you get around the initial shock, the difference is nonexistent. Of course, when you're spriting, the difference is much, much more noticeable. Since I don't sprite, I wouldn't know how easy or hard it would be to get used to it, but I imagine that would be harder to get over. VX works best with graphics styled like its RTP, so if you're going for something elaborate, you'll want to either find a good workaround, or use the other maker.
