Wild guess, it'll be in Japanese and take 2 years to go to English. Unless! Enterbrain finally got their act together and are making a Jap and English copy?

Um... Interesting how it is announced that a new RPG Maker is coming. After reading this thread page after page I have nothing to say as people have spoken for me.
 
The English version (if any) will probably be cheaper. Taking into account the fact that the Japanese Version comes in a box, with a cd and sample games. The English version comes in a download.

If you wanted RMXP in Japanese legally, you'd pay about 100USD.

I think I would wait a little longer for a english version and pay a bit less.

But because it is an update, when its finished they might be able to offer it to people who have already bought rmxp legally for just a small fee, or even free!

Actually, for those who may have noticed, Rpg Maker XP is a program that connects to the internet (It mainly connects when you download the trial and checks to see how much time you have left to use it.) However, when the update comes out, all of the rpg makers could connect and automatically update themselves.

That would be sweet!

Hmm, seems I've made quite a poplar thread here, haven't I?
I don't think it will be a patch update, like most people here seem to think. I think it will be a separate program, the way RM2K3 was from RM2K.

An announcement on the 9'th, eh? I'll keep my eyes peeled.

If they sort out map layering and the compiler i'll be happy.

Looks like its more than likely to be true...but we'll have to wait and see ^_^

I hope for few things.
1. That it's all true... : )
2. That we're going to get more powerful RGSS Player.
3. That "doubling the framerate" is something more than making the "Wait" command wait actually 1 frame, not two (as it was mentioned regarding displaying pictures smoothly).
4. That all we've learned within script editor will still be useful.
5. We get some really powerful mapping/passability tools.
6. Return of the AVI-player. A real one. With sound : )

That's all I want for X-mas. $100 wouldn't even be that much for all this.

p.s. One more thing - that we won't have to wait a year for english version ;)
 
I'd get it if:

-All my scripts worked in it, sch as Netplay+
-It was backwards compatable to I could open my game in it
-There is access to the hidden classes

That's all really.

I agree if it isn't backwards compatible then I would probably not buy straight away, maybe after a few months.

There is no way I'm losing 592mb of stuff.

If it's 592MB I doubt it's a database size :] Graphics/sounds would probably be compatible (maybe some edits to gfx would be required). Ofcourse, if the database itself took plenty of time to build it would be pretty hard to redo it again. Keep in mind, however, that backward compatibility would probably mean little improvement to the program and game mechanics. I'd rather get something completely new than having more autotiles or layers (which, to a degree, can be obtained by scripts already).
Awww, let's just wait for some official info ; )

I guess your right, there isn't much point in praising/complaining about it considering there isn't any information on it yet.

RPG probably will be made with simplicity operation!
