RMK3 could be seen as an "update" - but that was still full cost. Fact is, the "updated" bits are usually bloody good updates. Anyone remember the commotion about MP3s and Sideview battles in RM2K3?

I need to get my site sorted for VX tbh.

They had a patch that would make mp3's playable in 2k, actually, but I see your point. I didn't like the battle system much, but the battlers and all the updated graphics did look nice. From the looks of it they've gotten a really good artist this time too. The higher frame rate and updates to tilesets has me intrigued as well.

If it's real then Im guessing it's going to have some kick ass updates.

Minimum System Requirements for RMXP

* Microsoft? Windows? 98/98SE/Me/XP/2000
* PC with 800MHz Intel? Pentium? III equivalent or higher processor
* At least 128 MB of system RAM (256+ MB recommended)
* 1024x768 or better video resolution in High Color mode
* DirectSound-compatible sound card
* At least 100 MB of available hard disk space (500 MB recommended)

Minimum System Requirements for RMVX

* Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP / Vista
* Intel Pentium III 1.0GHz or above
* Memory 256 MB or above( recommended 512 MB or above)
* HDD 100 MB or above

So it needs more processor speed and RAM, plus it's already Vista Compatible. Could be a good change, but hope fully it is presented as an update and not as a brand-new $100 version. Of course, I'll still buy it :yes:, but that's more money out of my pocket....':|

From what I can tell it still will use Ruby/RGSS, just an added help interface for new scripters (already mentioned I believe). Still supports all of RMXP's graphics, just added features autotiles, which would get rid of a script and speed up processing power of the game (already mentioned). And from what I can tell with limited translation skills... faster frame rates and more event features, which excites me more than anything, I could really use the higher frame rate and some of the older event features from older versions. Plus I'm more of an eventer so, yeah.

BS. All the RMVX domains are still available except for .com and .cn both of which are owned by big companies.
Go ahead and try purchasing them my friend.

And the site bit was a semi-joke, I'll prolly just use them for ads tbh. The guy who owns rmxp.net and the guy who owns rmxp.com regularly make ?50+ a month.

Edit: Ok now I'm slightly pissed off. I purchased .net and .org at 9:00am this morning GMT. How the fuck has it since been bought by .org?

Guess our registrar is faster than yours? rofl. .Org bought it this afternoon.

Edit: The site will forward to RMXP.org in a few hours.

OH SNAP!

If this is true, the site is going to have to go through some major editing! I mean, will the site still be called rmXP.org? Would it become RMVX.org?

What would happen?

Seriously? RMXP.org bought the http: http:// www. RMVX.org domain name?
...
Oh! Who called it! Who ****ing called it!

But seriously, will the name of this site change? Really, do we know whats going to happen?

Holloway try not to be such a bitch-in-the-box. It's unbecoming.

Well this has snagged my interest, although I'm sure they won't add a particle engine :p

still i can dream can't I? The other features do sound nice.

God I'm reminded every day how young the forum goers here are...

The software I use to make games costs $100. For a YEAR of using it, for ONE person, and EVERYTHING I make goes to the makers of the software, rather than to myself. I am not allowed to use ANY of what I make in this software for profit. The closest thing to is to use it as a portfolio piece.

Now, this program does come with some pre-made graphics (they're all shit btw, don't match a style, and are obviously made by programmers), and is very capable of making pretty much any 2d game you can think of... But you have to do a big part yourself, and really learning how requires classes, or a book (tack on another $100-$1000).

$100 for an engine that comes with a database, a pre-built graphics and collision manager, half the game built for you, and a shit ton of quality pre-made graphics is quite a fucking steal. Oh and I forgot, you can sell what you make with it if you really want to.

Ahh a bit of maturity, that is the be all and end all for the arguement about the quality of RMXP.

Thanks for the firstly, relevant and on-topic post, and secondly, for the obviously scathing remark straight from the white-hot tongue of the 15 year old professional. Honestly, I think I feel myself melting from the heat of your insult. Any time now I'll be unable to continue typing.
