RMXP vs Pokemon & Final Fantasy

Ha ha!, when I first found RPG maker, back when it was only illegal, I tried to import the pokemon tilesets to make a pokemon game.

And I actually have two projects "in development" that parody Pokemon and Final Fantasy. One is a purely Pokemon parody, while the other is a general RPG parody.

How about: Final Final Fantasy X-2: This Time We Really Mean It
You can use that titlw, go ahead, take it! :P

romance (except FF12, as I recall)

As said by many others.
This rumor is false.
Vann and his female friend fall in love in FF12: Revenant Wings. The whole game is based around it. Read up sometime on it. Ashe wasn't the love part, but there were DEFINITELY hints in that game about love, very very subtle hints.

Final Fantasy 5 DID have romance. Lena and Buzz (think that is their names). Were mildly in love. It wasn't a huge part of the story, but it was there. A little "country" boy of the FF world, meets a beauitful princess thing, he was infatuated, as well him and Galuf were like lustful or something when they found out Faris was a girl, Undressing in the ruined pirate boat before the Sirens scene if I recall... Just cause they didn't say they fell in love/kissed/whatever doesn't mean romance wasn't there.

Tactics Advance had love. Marche and the girl with the snow white hair I forget her name, were mildly in love as well, it was more of her infatuated with Marche than anything, she would try to hide it.

I know my final fantasy... so don't get me wrong.

Making a fangame... hmm.. a FAN|GAME. They are a fan of the FF/Pokemon series. Big deal. It is more of a tribute than anything. Really All Final Fantasy games and Pokemon games are similar. Pokemon is more childish, has the same basic concept, 3 starters, 100+ new pokemon, new regions, vast world, plenty of trainers, elite four, victory road, and gymleaders. Final Fantasy has Cid, sometimes Mid, Moogles, usually Side-view battles, Airships, expansive worlds, one godly boss, long dungeons, unique characters, unique character designs, chocobo's, Espers/Summons, and similar puzzles.

Though each of those games whether it is pokemon or FF, they are stand alone games. Thus the point of making a fan game is you are wanting to make your own Stand Alone game with the same similar aspects that they've always used in their games. Most pokemon games are linked with eachother now, but you can still play it as a stand alone if you are a new comer to the series. Same for Final Fantasy, sure there are a few ones with expanded storeis... FF7 had its own movie, and like 2 expansion games... FF10 has a sequel. FF12 has a sequel, as well the story of the world of Ivallice has been expanded with the Ivallice Alliance thing... which consists of so far... Final Fantasy 12, 12: Revenant Wings, 13 (all 3 parts), Tactics Advance, and Tactics Advance 2: The Sealed Grimore.

My final word, let them make the games, it is their choice, if their game is a flop, it isn't any harm done to Square Enix or Nintendo, it is a reputation hit for the creator and team who made the game.

I wouldn't count any of those elements in FF5 and FFTA to be actual romance elements. If they don't hook up and the game doesn't spend lots of scenes building up to it, then it ain't romance. Love by itself does not equate to romance.

Butz was the ultimate pimp by the end of FF5, considering he was in a party with 3 girls, hehe. Still, he never looked up with Lenna so I can't fathom calling that romance.

FFTA: There is a definate thing between marche and ritz (Girl with white hair) I remember in some dialouge someone asked Ritz if she REALLY liked Marche and Ritz went all shy.
I actually think romance is a key part in FF, which is another reason why final fantasy fangames suck, the character's are hardly ever developed, you cant relate to them and people just dont feel the urge to play on and find out that character's fate.
My No.1 hate for pokemon fangames is when the creator tries too put a serious plot into it, pokemon games are targetted at children and aren't designed for death scenes, romance or a massive boss battle that blows up the world.

How can romance be a key part in FF if FF1 for example has none?:P
I don't think that's much of a valid point. It's the first FF game, and the series was just taking its form by then. How do you expect romance if the main characters don't even talk?

Good point: So why call the other games Final Fantasy if they were to change so much from it? Again, what they did was exactly the same as pick Jurassic Park and name it Star Wars episode 7: Nothing significant in common.

Well, the main reason I'm making this Pokemon Starter Kit is so I can get some good practice in for scripting. This is going to be a great way to get better.

i can see why people make pokemon games. but 99% of the time the whole 'final fantasy' part of the FF fangames just seems to be tacked on, its usually completely unnecessary.

Final Fantasy (Fie-null Fan-ti-si) (N): 1) Square-Enix's notorious tag which, when applied to any game, guarentees an instant marketing success despite no continuity amongst the games 2) The last dream a person has before dying 3) A series that Chrono Trigger just NARROWLY avoided being part of. Synonyms: Last Legend

On the Pokemon front, I actually think it's good for fangames to give them a serious plot. I used to be a fan of the series (still sorta am if you see my ER userbar) and am ashamed that Nintendo uses it solely to cater to little kids. The only problem is that none of the Pokemon fangames ever seriously get finished. The only serious and original one I really even see with any hope is Fangking Omega's Pokemon Acanthite.

Maybe some people want to create an original game, but use final fantasy races, weapons, skills, e.t.c.

While each final fantasy game is a stand alone story, they have similarities between them.

And pokemon fangames are good, as they really don't have a "story". There is just so much you can do with it. No one's saying you have to have bloody battles or anything like that, but you could do something like playing from the perspective of a Team Rocket member or something.

And while pokemon is advertised towards kids, it is still enjoyable for people of all ages. If your playing Pokemon for a serious story, your playing the wrong game. Many things that are geared towards children is still enjoyable for adults. Zelda, Mario, e.t.c. Even movies like Star Wars and Spider-man. Blood and Guts and Violence =/= Maturity.

i personaly think pokemon fangames are annoying. to me, if you've played one pokemon game, you've played them all. but if people want to make pokemon fan games... then go for it. jsut dont expect me to play it.

so far ive played yellow, red, gold, ruby... the sheer simplicity of it is what gets me... i mean, come on you need more of a story to forward it... i mean, sure, its fun to play around and get your pokemon battle on for a few minutes, but afterwards it just becomes so blah...

Maybe its already been covered, but my way of thinking is if i don't wanna see a remake then guess what.

I wont play it?

Am i wrong?

If you don't want to see someone treat you badly , you don't see them right?

Its just like violence, use some common sense and don't watch/play it. There is no discussion just take some responsibility.
(Wow i sound like a jerk... :-X)

I want to make one when Demonfire's kit comes out because I like to play Pokemon games so it would be fun to make one.

I like them if they are done RIGHT.  If they mess any fangame up (whether it be history, names or just things that shouldn't happen in that series) like mixing Megaman and Pokemon...bad idea.
