RMXP RTP Allowed in RMVX?

What about bits of the RTP? Like objects and doors etc.?

Venetia  - Hmm...
" Further, Licensee shall not sell, distribute, assign, lease, sublicense, encumber, or otherwise transfer the RTP SOFTWARE and/or its data without any prior written consent of ENTERBRAIN."

Anyone want to email them about this? :V

It is illegal to use XP resorcess in VX?
Um, that makes little sence.
Both programs were made by enterbrain, as long as you purchased both products it is fine.
Also, i have seen a few screen shots showing off character sprites from XP in VX on Enterbrains site, so this is kind of a silly topic to me.
Anyhow, im going to bed, i will read any respionces to this later when i wake up.
I still say that sounds silly to me.

You want to know what sound silly to me? Not being allowed to expose myself to passersby. It's a law, though, so I don't do it... usually.

Uh... That stuff is the RTP. Why do you think it would be okay?

People always assume that if the same company made a product, the license and all things included somehow carry threw.  This isn't always the case.
For example...
Let's say you can tinker with a certain videogame system.  You are allowed to modify it.
You are actually allowed to change it.
The company has it in it's documentation for that system, that you may stick it in the toaster if you wish.  Does that mean that this videogame system, let's pretend to call it Gamesphere, and any later version in the "series" will always be under this allowance?
Will Super Gamesphere X-II Turbo follow the same abilities?  Not necessarily.

While they have shown you how to, you most likely can.
But don't be surprised if they say you can't (legally).  Well, be surprised but don't be shocked.

Well, i think i will anyhow, and while im at it, i will contact EB and ask them.
As far as i know, its fine.
And i have been doing it since .. um.. way back with 2K and 2K3,and i even used some stuff from 95.

Since when did all the RPrs become so uptight and by the books anyhow?
I remember a time when people would not nitpick over little things like the RTP.
I mean, i can understand things like people getting upset over illegal versions being made of the RPG Maker series, but things like this is just... i dont know.. wrong... to me anyhow.

Assuming that the rmxp rtp isn't allowed in rmvx - considering you had to agree to the EULA and all that jazz, would be considered a rip.

Assuming this, let's see why it's an issue.
For commercial games you can get brought to court about it, forget about your game being shot at with a cease and decease order (which if you think laughable look how many fangames or games with ripped grpahics Square actually shot down!).  You can the moment you make money off the project - and before - actually be brought to court and sued over.
While far fetched, that second example has happened -thought not with enterbrain or the RM series as far as I know- and can happen.
Your sites and those hosting them can also get in trouble for having the files containing riped resources.

For free games you can still end up in trouble.  While you're most likely always going to be below the radar, technically you can also end up in as much crap.

You signed an agreement.  Unless Enterbrain voids part of that agreement with a new addition to it (the rtp agreement not to use the resources outside of rmxp is altered to include rmvx for example), you technically are breaking a contract agreement.
That's the key.  Breaking a contract agreement.

While I doubt any trouble would honestly come, some people would like to play safe - that's the issue.

No he wouldn't.
Several people have contacted the companies involved in RMXP and have gotten answers.
Several people have contacted for issues with their activation code, and have gotten responses.
Kind responses at that.

Haha... and so many are using RMXP RTP in MMO makers. (Like Eclipse I believe.) Awfully mapped ones at that.

We don't ALL use it, and besides, all of those graphics were searched for and found off free resource sites, I don't know how RMXP graphics got in the mix...

man, some people around are always too anal about this kind of stuff, yeah, it's illegal, but do you honestly think that EB! cares if we use it for a free game? mostly not, if you're going commercial it could be an issue though...

Well, none of us (as far as I know) were getting responses to non-customer support questions. I wrote a very nice email about the patch the jap version has, and when one might be out for us. But none of that matters now, with RMVX coming out. I just hope they include some sample games, and maybe some diffent styles in the RTP to pick from, then this won't be an issue. Maybe they'll included a converted XP-RTP for us! We'll have to wait for the jap release to find out what we'll be getting.
