vista doesn't have that good a compatability with most programs, as most programs are for xp vista is new, I stick with xp, and vista isn't securer it's easier to hack into.
@arbiter, oh shut up. Vista has hardly any compatibility problems- can't get an XP program to run? Right click and set it to XP mode. And as for hacking? XP is hardly any more secure- infact leaving UAC on makes it slightly harder to fuck you over (slightly). How about you stfu and try it and/or actually deal with the topic at hand? He's obviously already got Vista so help him or shut up.
If you have an issue with saving the game, look for a script by Lambchop in the scripts section which fixes the saving bug.

Your vista runs well? fast? good for you. now, run an OpenGL game on a 3Ghz AMD, 1GB RAM and a SATA drive with 256MB graphics card.
In fact, run orbiter on those specs... seem good enough don't they?

Vista is not as secure, it's still in the development stage (regardless of whether it's been released to the public) so therre are still holes and flaws.
XP was the same. Then they released SP2.

Most IT technitions nowadays HATE Vista, even though they have to work with it. I remember running vista ultimate edition. I'm now on XP. Would be on 2000 if it wasn't for Wireless driver support being a little poo..
Summery: When Vista is out as long as XP, i'm sure it will be fine. It is NOT as stable as most linux distro's especially mac, and definately XP...

It doesn't seem to really matter which os you are on anymore, i hardly seem to think theres much difference between "Safe" and "Not safe". Generally the newer windows OS's get hacked more often because they are new and are bound to have alot of vulnerabilities, so if you really want to go for "Safer" sticking with an older os for awhile is generaly the best idea.

I had problems with it before, but once I got internet running on this computer and had it set to run as administrator everything was fine.

Wow, i feel so loved, once installed it, i needed to download the patch from enterbrains website which seems to make vista run rpg maker without any problems, thanks everyone for helping me out!
