Wings : Regarding Tana's Template Outline":lvpcyslh said:
The outline she provided is the base that I am looking for...

As you can see from what I've provided many times over, that the traced outline of the generic Atelier Iris sprite is what I am going for. That traced outline is the same outline that Tana provided. So I will go with her's and not Linkin_T's. For reference...again...

EDIT: kk, let me rephrase myself when saying I WILL NOT be using Linkin_T's template...regardless in any situation. So if you waste your time creating the 8-way directional using his, then don't bother creating it at all. I have already said many times over that I will only use the outline Tana provided considering I prefer the shape and size. This isn't an instance of what is easier for you.

Your the boss. No, really, you are. I'll do it, and it'll be pretty damn good at that. Sorry if I misunderstood, but I wasn't entirely sure before since you never said anything about Linkin_T's. I'll get to work on it as soon as I get some sleep... And it's not what's easier for me, it's what looks best to you.

The outline she provided is the base that I am looking for (as I have previously stated), and as far as the other attempts go, I do sincerely appreciate the efforts on the author's part...however they were not exactly what I am looking for.

I thought I made this point very clear...hmm...none the matter, what is done is done. As long as you understand the directions now I do not see any problem. However I do request for you to actually post some progress so I can see where you are going to go with this thing, otherwise you will be giving me a "blind" template, and I may not like it in the end. This will save both my time and yours.

It took me an hour to do that, heh, they sure wear a lot of clothes in that game, but I'm pleased with how my rough start turned out. I'll fix it up more later(like smoothing out the head), but I thought you would like to see the progress so far.
:S tell me if I should keep going or if I should stop.
EDIT: I'll make the template running as you asked, but I will also make one walking after I have done running. In case you need it for important parts of the game.(i.e. Run around all through game, but CutScenes would ask for a more subtle walking towards. For more serious parts...)
EDIT(again):http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/Atnasx/CharacterStances.png[/IMG]
Just rounded out the head and fixed the arms a little bit. (also, thanks for the running stance, as now I can actaully see some of the body, I would have been working blind if he was standing still.)

Now regarding both of your attempts; Lonesight & Atnas, I can find numerous problems with both.

Atnas:

While seeing that you are attempting to remain true to most part of the outline Tana provided, you are very inconsistent with size, shape and overall form.
  • Looking in comparison to the original outline, you can see the anatomy of the sprite nicely defined. This attempt you provided strips that away, and kind of imitates a sort of...flat figured feel if you know what I'm saying.
  • Look at the front view stance in comparison to your 3/4 view. There is something wrong with that picture.
  • It's just not consistent...I really don't know how to explain it in other words.
Lonesight
  • The frame is pillowshaded...why?
  • The outline is not what I wanted. If you wanted to shade something, at least shade the definite front view that was provided by Tana.
  • Your template...is blocky, broken and does not run together well.

I have said to those who are attempting this, to use the traced outline I have quoted many times over in previous posts. I will not be accepting any other renditions of this template...unless it proves better than the one made before hand.

Oh well i gave it shot your expecting us to use tana's outline? thats really dumb but hey if atnas wants to do it fine

Alright, do me a big favour Lonesight. You are reknown for not being able to take criticism well...so don't post in this thread anymore. I have given you the flaws in design, and it being MY request thread...the instructions are to be abided by. If you want to be a little cry baby, do it on someone elses fucking time...not mine.

oh sorry wings my comment wasnt directed towards your judgment of my sprite i understand what your saying. i guess i said it wrong i ment i dont understand why you want us to use tana's outline. i know tana is one of if not the best spriters around so making an attempt at continueing her work is verry difficut.

Alright, to make things easier here...Tana went ahead and traced a few more sprites for you to follow off of. The original tracing was done by her, and the edits in form (so it didn't look so goofy) was done by me.

*Update* I have tweaked a few things and have made the side-view no longer appear that he is leaning backwards.

I'm still fixing them up, so the image with be updated here and there.

So does that mean that the request is still up, just that you want them in movement? I'm not too good at making sprites from scratch(even tracing clothed figures), as much as I am at making them run... Though, the request is now a lot less(difficult-wise) and I think it would be crazy to offer the prizes you originally offered for the work now requested. Just my opinion though, if you are still offering the same prizes, go ahead, it just seems... Like a rip-off towards you.

Why wouldn't the project still be open? There are so many more frames to do, plus the shading of the template. What we have here right now should be an easy start to those who are interested.
