Yes, RIP... My brand new Dell XPS (red *quivers*)hasn't been turned on for over two months... *cries* I moved and didn't have room for it, and now I'm back and my family put the christmas tree up where my desk used to go... Gah! So I know how you feel lol.
And yes, the only real requirement is that the game is 2 players. That's it. It can even be turnbased, meaning you could actually do something so simple that you don't even have to incorporate second controls or anything, you could use the first player and just change the graphic or whatever you wanted. Just 2 players. The only actual rule.
And if no one else joins, then I'll extend the deadline by a month and keep bumping it up... And if it still doesn't work, then I'll try changing the tile or the topic for the contest. I honestly can't see what's so scary about a multiplayer game... I mean, I think it would be an awesome opportunity to test your skills and make something really fun. But hell... maybe I should just start making some multiplayer games. Apparently I'm the only one who thinks this would be neat.
