Paying people "per game sold"

Just start pushing your game on the street corner. Sell games out of your trunk. XD

The formula is just a difficult one to figure out.

Some people are happy with one payment and done, some want to be along for the long haul.

Maybe you break it down into percentages

20% Story
20% Sprites
20% Maps
20% Scripts
20% Whatever else

Then offer people a percentage of the percentage based on the work they've done. Instead of $1 or whatever number.

Of course think about your costs and all that...blah blah blah.

anything commercial should have contracts written up that are legally binding. it's like when you make a movie. you have to pay people to do many of the jobs, you then negotiate what percentage they get of the cut and get a legal contract written up. most people would want something up front just in case the project fails.
kind of a pain, but you have to have a contract. i would never work on something that i put so much time into just to be screwed over in the end.
