I have two months! Geez. I can make an enjoyable two-hour game in a (rather busy!) week; you've already posted in the topic and seen that I'm not joking.
The secret is not to get bogged down by zomg scripting. Make a
fun game, not a
zomgcoolsfx game. That said, I'll probably get ripped apart by judges for not "using RMXP to its full potential" but oh well.
And resource gathering... I have a ton of bookmarked sites, but I'm just using the rm2k3 RTP anyway. I'm making custom icons myself and I got some pretty facesets from
http://sozaimenu.gozaru.jp/english.html , so I'm not worried there. For scripts I'm using a battle speed-up script from GameBaker, a self-tweaked five-actor battle party by Raice (plus I've edited the menu and stuff myself), Dargor's party changer script, that common train_actor script which doesn't have any credits within it and some algorithim/battle/other random tweaks I can do myself. For music I'm using a ton of stuff I've collected over the years that would be impossible to trace back to a specific URL.
As for the actual game, I'm doing an open-ended character collection game based off of an open-ended character collection game I started a while back (I think I posted screenshots here, actually...) but, as per the contest rules, I'm not actually using that project, just the same graphics and basic idea. If that's not allowed by Despain then holy shit I quit.
(Was that a cocky enough retort for you?)
