The judging will take place in two rounds:
The first round will be done by the judges themselves, me and a select few other members. The judges will each write up a small review and a score for their game, and will select a game of their choice as the winner (their selection can be different than their game with the highest score, since the reviews themselves don't consider the rules and theme of the contest). These reviews, scores and selections will likely not be posted, as they might skew the opinion of the second round.
The second round is the community vote. The winner of a community poll will have an additional vote towards its score that has the same weight as a judge vote. The weight of the community vote may change depending on the final number of entries.
For example: Four games are submitted: A, B, C and D. There are four judges. Each judge votes for one of the games. Game C wins the community poll. The final standings would be one vote for A, B and D, and two votes for C. C would win the contest.
I hope that explains how the judging will be handled. I've already started playing some of the early submissions- and I have to say that the quality I've seen so far is amazing. Good luck to all the entrants!
