Both programs have their advantages and downfalls...
I persnoally find it WAY easier to map in VX, after you learn a few tricks to it, mainly that large groups of things look good ^_^
It is a different style of mapping, and it doesnt take that long to learn. The world map tiles are awesome though, I made a huge map that would of taken me several times longer to create in XP. Sure it doesnt look "real" but that is the style of it ^_^
Since the "academies" are coming back, and I am working on some stuff for it, I will be making a few assignments with RMVX (for those who have it)
It took me a while to get the interiors down, but I think I almost have it... it definetally is simpler, although I still miss the layers... but them again, it does it for you, which actually makes it a lot faster to map ^_^
I am working on a short game right now useing RMVX. Something that I would encourage others to do if you are unfamiliar with the program. Just start with something simple... like a 1-2 hour game, so that you can learn the program.
In just 2 days I have finished the world map, 5 of the 18 towns and after the mapping is complete, then I will start writing it and eventing the whole thing...
But yeah... I did that with RMXP when I first got it, and it helped me a ton!
Although I deleted it a few months ago... It helped me learn how to use it, but I was embarresed to have it on my computer ^_^ (it was awful ^_^)
Anyways, cheers!
