If RPG Maker had stayed the same:

If RPG Maker had stayed in it's 2k/2k3 form, maybe been updated but not to include scripting - just events, do you think you would still be using it?

I used 2k for a while before XP came around. Sometimes I try using it again, fall in love with it, but get annoyed at how it's not XP, and end up back in RMXP again. But I don't get the same feeling with VX and VXace, I'm happy to stick with XP, which makes me think scripting was the only thing really "wrong" with the older editors.

Do you think you'd even stick around with the RM community if you'd never found scripting?

Maybe, maybe not. The sprite sheet limitations is kind of deal breaker for me. Lately I prefer more frames, like 8+ frames for smoother animations. But a low frame count kinda works with the 2k3 aesthetics.

I've never used 2K/2K3 before. O_O

I have used RM 95, RM 2, and RM 3 before XP/VX/VX-Ace.

I'm still sticking with RM - but only because it's what I can afford, and it's what I know. I don't plan on making games and things in my future for a career. I do it because I have that urge to, so thus XP/VX-Ace should help with that.

Yes. If there wasn't any scripting support on RM I still being using it. I'm making RPG like games and even if I can't customise the battle Scene, I can alway "develop" my ideas. There are sure better software but they aren't easier to use than RM (personal appreciation) and if the community growed without the Scripts, I think RM should have been modded by its community :3

Awesome Bro

I still make games with rm2k. I know enough about it to make more complex systems than with rmxp. rmxp seems like a hassle to me only because I don't know ruby enough.
