Hsien-Ko RTP sprite, WIP

Here's a sprite I've been working on of Hsien-Ko (also known as Lei-Lei) from Darkstalkers.

It's got a few problems, namely her legs look too long and her arms look too short, and her hat looks peculiar...Also, I'm not too great at shading, or picking my own colors (all of the colors on the sprite where copied from the reference picture) I started with Mack's female template, which seems most suitable for a young teenage female, and Hsien-Ko looks older than that...so I had to adjust her height a bit. If you are wondering where her giant claw sleeves are, well, let's just say that would make the sprite 50 times harder to make, and she actually does have her arms bare like that sometimes.

Anyway, what do you think? I'm mainly posting it here for some advice, I haven't made many sprites, and they usually have similar problems. Any help would be appreciated.

Her limbs are perfect. Neither short or long in my perspective. The hat needs some work near the fuzzball at the top. Perhaps a pixel of pink on the edges before it drops. Her skin tone definetly needs work.

I don't know who Hsien-Ko is, so that may be a role in her odd skin tone.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, the ball on her hat does look kinda weird, I guess I'll try and fix it. And, what's wrong with her skin tone? Is it because she's blue? If you looked at the reference picture, you could tell she's blue. Or is her skin the wrong kind of blue? I'm not sure what you mean...

I think you just need to adjust the shade of blue/purple you're using. There's basically as much difference in tones as in the template, but they're all the same, like you just went up/down the color slider. Your darks should probably be more blue than your lights, which should be more red. But only slightly, you don't really want to change the whole color scheme, right? It just needs a bit more difference.

Her hat looks all right, but I think it's at the wrong angle. Remember, you're looking at it from a slightly downward angle (about 45 degrees), so the ball definitely needs to be moved closer to her face, and you should probably be able to see some of the back rim (just based on its shape).

Agreeing with tindy here, you really need your darks to be more blue and darker, and your highlights to be more orange-yellow and lighter. It looks kinda flat at the moment.
