High five earthtone buddy! Although I am sort of the opposite, I have been favouring flashier colours lately after way too long wearing greys and muted tones. Pastel colours are apparently something to avoid given my hair and skintone, so I've been into bright blues and summer colours a lot more lately.
Shoe pricing is ridiculous and like 90% brand recognition. You could spend $120 on some samey bullshit with a dumb colour scheme or $70 on something less famous but way classier. (That is the shoe I have, by the way! Cutting profile and design that draws the eye, but it's simple enough to go with anything, and also it has lasted me over a year with no scuffing or breaking seams. The soles are sky blue in case you want to be showy when kicking something! I am being an enormous shill but hey I got Opinions about shoes.)

yeah, british school uniforms look incredibly classy compared to ours. here we usually just throw on a polo shirt, slap on the school logo, toss on some pants and we're ready to go
They actually look pretty nice mawk, but meh I'm fine with my £30 Converse lol, it's all I ever wear... they're cheap, light, and very comfortable, I hate those shoes that have tons of padding as if you're trying to suffocate your feet (The big fat nike ones with the fat lip and stuff)... yeah.
Besides, someone who blows all their money on labels are just stupid, like you said, it's pointless spending so much money on a pair of shoes, JUST because their nike, when you can get better for less.

i wear mainly dark colors with flashy neons colors around. To me, it is all about contrast. I would never wear a brightly colored t-shirt of even white for that matter, I really only wear black, grey, or some other color between the two with an occasional brown thrown in. In terms of pants I wear black or blue jeans. Im not scene though oh dear. x:

I can usually find a good t-shirt for 10 bucks or under.
In terms of accessories I sort of find odd things.
I usually wear those sweatband things that go on your wrist of arm. I have some neato ones like invader zim and stuff that I got when I was in Elementary school.

And I am working on my totoro hat but thats taking a while
I wear gloves as well I actually finished my totoro gloves and usually just wear those but I dont know. I crochet my own stuff
For shoes I wear Converse. But I painted my own shoes and made them an octopus attacking a city they arent super good but whatever.
Or I just wear an older pair Converse. x:

i like vans, they're comfy 
i can't wear keds or any type of hightops or even most kinds of cowboy boots. my arches are too high for them :V
when i was a preteen/teenager i wore INCREDIBLY high heels and platform shoes that were too small for me, and it kind of forced my feet to be 2" smaller over time ;x
at age 12 i was size 11, but by age 16 i was size 9 ;x
super dumb & awful!
but oh well you can't find good ladies shoes in size 11+ anyway.

I only wear slip-on shoes (a.k.a. loafers or moccasins), leather or cloth. I absolutely hate shoe laces.
