Than we could make a lil team, to get this faster to its release.
I'm very good at graphicdesign and spriting. I'll send u some examples than.

i have the shooting system script complete. im working on the driving system right now, its coming out pretty good. i just finished the SFX the cars make (speeding up, constant speed, slowing down, idle sfx)

all i really need for a script is a script where you hear a sfx only if you're close to it, because im working on making all the NPC's say funny things, and you shouldnt be able to hear somene talking when there all the way at the end of the map XD

Im still a bit new but for your problem can you set a event location to a variable that is generated in relationto the charater that is suppose to trigger it?

say even takes place at x,y,
x = to char_x+5,
y = to char_y+5,

make a bubble around the char of events that trigger your sfx?

Im just curious if Im thinking correctly


P.S. your game looks great Im working on something along the same lines just a lot further behind you in development

Joe_Can_Chat, im sorrry but i dont understand what you mean :)
but that coding is something that is crucial to the game, thats the only part is where im confused about in coding.

id like to see a multiplayer version :D
but im going to focus on the single player game first.
maybe after its complete, ill release a standalone version of GTAXP ONLINE if everything goes right.
the visual script would be great, but its just that im going to have alot of diffrent animations and stuff.
shooting, releading, jumping, getting in car, leaving car, fist fighting, dying, being hurt, and lots others lol. as well as the cutscene animations. :)
i was thinking about having clothing shops, but you just buy outfits, rather than each clothing seperate.

Anyway this game looks cool :) Although I've never played Playstation 2 GTA, I still want to try this XD

But sadly, john of the dead, and a few other games i was developing had to be cancelled due to my computer breaking. and i didnt have a back up of the game :(
But im playing it smart now and backing up all the files for the games.

I'm glad that computer broke( sorry if it hurted anybody ) this looks sweet i can't belive i see such a great remake! I got a question.. How long will it prob take to make a demo also i got another: will there be free play like in the real gta where u don't need to do all the quests and stuff and just kill ppl?

for question 1: i dont think there will be a demo, because i want to get the game finished and have people play something great, and dont want everyone to deal with the bugs of early gameplay.

for question 2: of course there will be freeplay where you can run around killing people :D thats one of the big things that make a GTA game.

Im in no place to tell you how to code by any means its been many years sence I ahve coded I wont mention the language it will give away my age.. anyway Im gonna try to explain it better bear with me

lets say your wanting bum_01 to say "spare some change"
Bum_01 is on the map at x,y cord. 100,100

so when player 1 gets with in lets say ....... 100 pixels bum_01 should say his line

so you could make a cluster of events that surround bum_01 by taking the bum_01 x,y cords and adding and subtracting 100 pixels from them to specify the event x,y cords that need to surround the bum

I dont know if it is possible to make single events in a differant size other than the basic square if you could this could be done with 4 events in rectangular shape

if you can only do it with the squares its a lot of events to make so I dont know how good of an idea it would be

i dont think that i have done any better job of trying to explain this but i tried

but dont worry, right after this i have a big suprise for the people that liked the zombie game.
trust me.

anyway keeping on subject heres a new screen test. maybe the car needs to be smaller?.......and im thinking about throwing out the beeper system to add a cell phone system =P

I got a question. How do you plan the maps? Like do you have several big maps (250x250 or something) or many small maps? And if you do it with small maps, how do you connect them? I imagine it would be really strange when driving a car to the end of one map and being teleported to another... And if you use just a few very big maps, I'm really concerned about lags...

But besides that question, this is one of the most interesting looking games I've seen in the last months. I really like how you get everything going!
 
I've never really completed a Grand Theft Auto game. Strange as it is, I preferred Grand Theft Auto 2 out of the ones I played (I've never played GTA and GTA London) because of its top-down perspective and it featured more comic humour and graphics. This looks good and if all goes well, maybe I'll be able to complete this one when its finally completed. Good luck!

oh as for the question about the maps.
ok this is how it works. theres maps for the interiors of places (fast foodplaces and hoses and such)

but for the city, its 3 big maps and each map is a diffrent city.
the game takes place in three diffrent cities.
as for the lag, trust me on this. it wont be a problem. all the ABS, and all the big coding is used in RGSS so all of the events and stuff have small amounts of coding but still have a good AI since its just reading from the script.
ive even tested how much i can put into one of the cities as a test. i copied a city map and just put alot of stuff on it. like alot of NPC's car events (with full AI) weather, time, shooting system and everything.
just trust me on this, you wont be teleporting every two seconds, and the game will not lag :)
