I was considering posting this thread in Other Entertainment, but i'm pretty sure the talented composers that lurk in this section would be just as interested in the inspiration and techniques from this music, as well as just enjoying the music for what it is. If a mod feels differently, then don't hesitate to move this to another section.
A group called OverClocked have just released a 46 track album of their Final Fantasy IV remix/tribute, that is available to download for free via torrent from their website here: http://ff4.ocremix.org/
They say their project is best described as rock opera, but incorporates a wide variety of styles. The 'three cds' each represent a different chapter of the game; Betrayal, Strife, and Redemption. The music is played in a 'narrative style' as though it were telling the story of the game from beginning to end.
I've just started listening to the first cd, and so far it seems like a really unique restructure of the game's original soundtrack. Check it out.
