Conclusions

I don't want a final boss with like 6 forms. That pisses me off. For example, a game series I love is KH (Kingdom Hearts)... (Game spoilers for the final boss)

In KH, you fight the villain himself. Then, you fight him again but he's angrier. Then, you fight him as a beast. Then, you go inside of the beast and fight a bunch of heartless. Then, you go back out of the beast and fight little parts of him. Then, you fight him again as the beast. THEN it's over.

It annoys the hell out of me. I want one final battle. Two at the most, if it's done right.

I also like a major cliffhanger ending. Not just a small sign that there will be a sequel. Something that makes you mad that it ended like that, but yet it was so satisfying.

Putting jokes aside, I hate incomplete endings or predictable endings. If it is a story with romance, I'd at least want a twist to keep me in suspense. Will it become a tragedy? Will a miracle happen and it will become a happy ending? DOES a tragedy happen? Mr.Weeaboo smiley will answer :japfag:

I think a lot of developers try and answer every question that is unsolved in the game in the conclusion, which can make it feel rushed and sloppy.

Oh hey, you just described the design document for Metal Gear Solid 4 in its entirety.

EDIT: Seriously, the Metal Gear series should have ended at 3 like Kojima planned until Konami waved a bunch of money in his face. Unless you were a grade A moron it wasn't that difficult to piece together the rest of the plot line between MGS3 and MGS2. Everything in MGS4 was grade A fanservice and it served absolutely no purpose other than be a 20 hour long epilogue.

Wow... Haven't encountered those but at that to the list of Ways to End a Game Well.

Name a game with that?

I'm assuming you mean Nikki's post.
Grandia II did this, after a fashion. You couldn't do anything to change the way it played out, though you could walk around a couple of towns and find out what the girls were getting up to.
Additionally, they left the love triangle unresolved, though you couldn't resolve it yourself. It was more of a "going their own ways" thing.

Suikoden II also has a playable epilogue where you can shape what happens next though. Some of the endings depended on having the right number of stars of destiny, but there was a lot of choice involved.
