Browser MMORPG editor

Hey everyone,
I hope you’re having an awesome day. I’m excited to tell you about a really cool game making platform we’ve been pouring the last year into. It’s called Gameleon! It’s a cloud based game editor and publishing platform that we’d really like to get some feedback on.
Why is it so exciting? Well, let’s put it like this. Have you ever wanted to create your own game, and publish it online for thousands of people to play? Well, you can’t really do that without some programming experience, technical know how, dedicated hardware and much more.

You’ll probably want to know straight away what kind of games you can make with Gameleon, and to keep the answer short, you can make 2D and isometric MMORPG’s and similar games ( single player RPG’s, hack and slash games, point and click adventures and so on). In fact, to showcase this exact point we’ve taken an iconic RPG - Diablo 2 - and re-created its first few levels.

It tooks us two days to extract models and textures from the original Diablo and import them into our editor. Check out the result for yourselves: and remember this is in a browser!

We designed it with user-friendliness in mind, and specifically tailored it to people who are non-technical in such a way that it doesn’t require any knowledge of programming languages, animation, etc. It’s very intuitive and 100% visual: everything is done with a drag and drop interface, and the scripting and AI behaviors and such are all pretty easy.

The finished editor will also have an Asset Market, where you can upload assets made for your games and auction them to others (or give them away for free). This means that not only game creators will want to use Gameleon, but also artists and programmers, sound designers and recorders, who will be able to get a buck out of helping people with bits and pieces to make their own games.
We’ve entered open beta recently and have opened up the beta version editor to the world. We’d really like to get your feedback on this.
We’ve made a quick tutorial video to showcase the creation process using a quick, basic 2D map. Check it out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T1MBu8qJEc

You can access the live editor at http://editor.gameleon.co/

In the left hand side of the interface there are resources and links to get you started: you’ll find maps and skins to start making maps for the beta, as well as links to the community and to the contact form, videos and more. We’ve tried to make it so that you have an easy time getting started.

!Do not mistake this as a tool made to REPLACE a programmer's hard work ( they might feel cheated somehow :P ). It can be used by people who don't have programming skills, but it can also help the programmers, because they can alter our Open Source code to program everything even further and create their own awesome games.

If you like what you’ve read so far, please, gives us a hand and test out the editor! We’re excited to get your feedback and suggestions.

I'm glad you like it:D
We are trying to make people understand the full capacity of the editor and the benefits of making a game with it.
Yesterday I got a lot of messages asking about the editor's license, hosting, asset market, etc. I will answer to them here as well so that anybody who has the same questions unclear will understand how this works.

The full version of the editor will be FREE to use. However, we will also have a premium version (available for purchase or annual subscription fee) that will enable you to introduce your own Cash Shop items or other functions that will allow you to gain income. Gameleon will NOT gain any income from these functions, so you will be free to sell whatever you want without any charge ( example: Flyff,Rappelz,League of Legends,SWToR,etc, they all have that system implemented ).
Also, the games you created while you had the premium version will still contain the premium features you implemented, even if the subscription expires!

The Asset Market will have 2 types of assets: the assets you upload for free and the assets you wanna sell. To be able to sell your assets, you will probably have to pay a subscription fee for the Asset Market. We will figure out the best way to calculate the subscription, because at the end of the day, we want the user to have the best profit. We do not think at the Asset Market as a big source of income for us. The Asset Market's main purpose is to gather a community where everybody can collaborate. Like this, a new user will have a wide variety of content at his disposal, making his work easier.

You will own all the games you create with Gameleon. We won't have any kind of license or copyrights over them, no matter if you create games with the full version or with the premium version. You can play the games with your friends, make it commercial or even sell it, but you have to keep in mind that if you decide to make a game commercial or sell it,it has to contain original content or to have assets that allow you to use them in commercial purposes ( if you get them from the Asset Market ).

While you develop your game,Gameleon will host it. You will have a free amount of space for each game, but if you plan to add a huge amount of content and use 20-30-100 GB,then we will probably charge you. Gameleon servers will host a huge number of games on our own cost, so you have to understand the fact that we won't be able to give each user unlimited space.

When you finish the game, you can host it on your own server or on any third party servers. For the moment, we do not offer hosting services, but we are planning to implement that in the near future.

For the moment, the games can be directly played in the internet browsers. You cannot make a downloadable client for a single player version of the game with this version of the editor. However, our next versions of Gameleon will allow you to do single player clients and they will work on Mac,Windows,Linux,iOS and Android (same platforms as now ). It will even have the multiplayer option because Gameleon itself is multiplayer and multiplatform by default.
Very important!! If for any reason,Gameleon as a company ceases to exist, you will still own all your games, you won't lose anything.

Hope it helped ^^

We have articles on our site about how to import 3D models from either Maya, 3D Studio Max or Blender, but we want to show you another way to import assets into Gameleon: .gif images. The cool bit about .gifs is that they’re already animated and they are an abundant and convenient way to store moving images,so why not use them in Gameleon and make our work easier?

The link below will take you on our web site where you can find the complete tutorial

Hey, this is looking great, I thought I'd replied but doesn't look like I did. It's good to see a new game engine, and even better that it's not the typical 2D topdown we normally get; iso is really interesting and if this can recreate Diablo II it's really going to get people gushing.

Thank you for your reply,it's really refreshing to see some new opinions about it :D
We are trying our best to provide top quality features and right now, besides this version of our editor, we are developing a new version with a 3D engine that will be integrated later, after the official release of Gameleon. The new engine will work even faster and will be even more powerful.

Here's a new tutorial about How to create Achievements using Gameleon
Enjoy!

I tried to make an account, but I couldn't log in. The log-in animation just went on forever. :(

I also opened port 10080 on my firewall, but it didn´t work.

Just logged in. It´s a fun software, but it takes some time to learn.

We are restarting the realm and the editor from time to time to fix bugs ,it only takes a few minutes :P
We are going to provide lots of tutorials so that you can learn fast how to use it and soon enough, we are planning to write a wiki that explains all the features and how to use them :D

If you encounter any problem, feel free to ask us for help here or on our website forum.
