Awareness Episode One (Complete)

Hello. I'd like to take this time to prove a lot of people wrong. Thank you.

I think people are interested in it actually. The thread back in .net (when I was pimping it in my signature because it's cool like that, and I loved being a beta tester) had a decent amount of replies.

Yeah, I can really see all the interest just overwhelming this thread. And yet games like Pale foster tons of posts, despite the lack of plentiful information. I could list plenty more examples, but I think Pale does the job just fine.

And I think quite a bit of people will take offense to being called a bunch of failures opinion or not. :S

Great.

This game's visual gimmick is the use of partical effects. So trying to pass this off as something "too smart" to "pull people in" with good graphics is ludicrus. It has good graphics, and they're clear from the screenshots past posted.

Please, by all means, direct me to the part of the thread that says "THIS GAME USES PARTICLE EFFECTS, SO YOU SHOULD PLAY IT BECAUSE IT IS ORIGINAL." I never said the game has bad graphics, but it doesn't flaunt custom graphics for the sole purpose of baiting mindless guppies into playing.

ryanwh said:
Also I dont recall playing your finish game.

I never said I wasn't in the list of failures. Please read between the lines before shooting off your mouth.

Thanks!

K um, yeah. Seeing as its VISUAL, one wouldnt need to write "PARTICLES!" because they're in the screens.
So Im really not getting what you want from this. I mean, I played it and couldnt really find anything wrong so there's no reason to post further. And there's no new demo, hasnt been for months. And you seem to hate the useless "wow this looks great can't wait" so what exactly are people supposed to reply to? Nothing new, nothing really to critique that he hasnt already heard, no point flattering his ego with pointless compliment posts. In other words, considering all that and that the rmxp.net shutdown deleted his topic that had many many replies, 3 pages worth of feedback sounds about right. I mean, it looks like you're just trying to piss people off but I dont see you bringing anything to the table that seperates you from the people you're insulting.
Would getting the kind of feedback Pale's getting make this a better game? No, not really. Most of it is just omg netflirting or something, has little to do with the content and everything to do with the author but that's a select group of people, not the community as a whole. So I dont know why you'd think it'd be better for those kinds of people to be giving their input in this thread.

I swear a few choice people can argue about anything...chill the fuck out.

I must agree with ryan on the Pale subject. This is the shit that's in that "successful" thread:

Script Kitty's back woo-hoo!!!!!!!!! And to hear AS is still alive and kickin only makes me feel even warmer inside. But this sounds like its gonna be another heart-touching epic.

*cuddles*

Yeah I could do with 4 pages of bullshit...

Anyway on topic:
As a beta tester, I can assure you this is more than eye candy. It's dialog flows very well, and for anyone with patience for politics this will be a good game.

OH MY GOD LMFAO YOU ARE SO FUNNY AND WITTY. I've NEVER heard anyone use such an original insult before, oh my god you are absolutely BRILLIANT. PURE COMIC GENIUS.

Please know the meaning of the insults that you wish to use; using them incorrectly makes you look like a moron.

Thanks!

Your parents must be proud.

I feel that this line of conversation is getting a tad off topic... :-/

On topic: It's visually appealing (and anyone who can do an animated side-battle system, as it appears to be, has my respect), the little plot revealed makes me want to play and find out more, and game politics are can be a good thing if they're done correctly. I'll be sure to check out the demo when it's posted.

I've deleted a few flaming posts. Please try to be a bit civil, people.

In any case, good luck, Milo. This project has been around for a long while, and it seems that it'll be awesome. ^_^

Looks interesting and well-thought out. I'll wait for the demo. Rather unimpressed by the flames involving it, though they have nothing to do with the creators themselves.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the feedback.

Anyway, this is a bit of a publicity effort so my apologies in advance.

Demo 2.0 will be released in 1 - 2 weeks (1 week if the final beta test goes well).

***As a side note, I won't be able to continue working on this project due to personal matters. So this will be it, in which case, the game ends on a bit of a cliff hanger.

I'm really disappointed I won't be able to finish this game, but, you know, life...it is a bitch. Anyway, thanks to everyone who's followed this project's development, it really helped keep me working on it.

Oh, and I'm really looking forward to see what people think of the game (good or bad) in a week or two. Alright, take care. :)

Hmmm.. I had to say my peace on the matter.

The back story seems a little hole-ridden as far as historical context goes.

I can understand an alternate history of Earth, if that's the case, but why would you mention Marathon, Salamis and it being set in the Roman Empire.

The Roman Empire was established in 31 BC and those two battles were in 5th Century BC. (Marathon 490 BC, Salamis 450 BC).

It could be that those aren't THE battles of Marathon and Salamis, and just Battles that occured at that point during a revolt against Roman Rule.

Yes, you're absolutely right. You see, this project started out as a historical game. But over time, I kinda dropped the history and made it more into a fantasy.

However, since I already developed the characters and factions, I just kept what I had and so you have Greeks, Romans, and magical Prophets all existing anachronistically after the fall of the empire.

But, I still think it turned out for the best.

This game is now complete. Please check the first post for download mirrors.
The filesize is ~100 MB.

Thanks to everyone who supported this project. I'm sorry if I missed anyone in the credits. If you feel you should be credited, please PM me and I will include you in a reupload.

Anyway, Awareness didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it. Due to time constraints, some things remain unfinished. But I hope you like the game for what it is.

Downloading now... good thing you have a mirror on Megaupload, the first one glitched on me after I accidentally hit 'Cancel' on the save window.

Edit: The Xenogears music was rather appropriate, I think.
