Atziluth *REVISED*

Well if this were a high rent, commercial game, I might be worried.

Unfortunately, it's not. Games like Xenosaga, Xenogears, FF7, and other games base them selves' heavily off religion. One of the best selling animes ever, Evangelion, is one of the most religiously defiant things ever. That in mind, if people don't have an open mind, don't play. We're not forcing any one to do anything.

They'd just be missing out on a great game. =)

True, FF7 was based on Jewish/Christianity. Sephiroth being jewish for numbers, Tifa being the Tiffaret (which keeps things in order, like how she kept cloud in order in the lifestream).

Jenova came to the planet from 'heaven' 2,000 years ago.

Jehova Jira (jesus) came from Heaven 2,000 years ago.

Sephiroth had followers, like Jesus had disciples. In FF7, Jenova playe dthe part of God, and sephy was 'Jesus', in story.

Sephi thought Jenova was his mom while Jesus knew God was his dad.

Sephiroth believed Jenova betrayed him (in a sense), much like Jesus said on the cross.

Funny, eh? I saw all of this by playing the game. The nomads traveling, etc.

Actually, Sephiroth was referred to the Tree of Life. The lines on the Tree of Life are known as "Sephira" or paths to God.

Tiffaret is also a node on the Tree of Life, meaning exactly what you said. To keep order and balance from the opposing nodes.

Very interesting, I'd love to see more on the screenshot part, though.

I'm trying, heh. I'm working the strings from behind the scenes. Currently I'm just involved very heavily in trying to iron out certain bugs between various scripts. As I said previously I'm using a lot of the readily available modules and such, custom lighting, caterpillar scripts and what-have-you... Now it's a case of getting those to work without conflicts with other modules that I've chosen to use. I've not even begun work on the CMS/CBS or whatever. It's still just a code work thing at the mo' so sorry for the lack of visual updates. Right now it's a case of ironing out bugs in terms of communication between the pixel/8dir movement module and the squad based movement script which I'm planning to utilise with the battle system (god bless some of Near's scripts, heh, time saving they are.)

EDIT::

*Segment Removed*

I've now revised the first post of this thread, read that for all the new info.

I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that the final pieces are coming to play in our brainstorming sessions.

We'll soon begin work on actual pieces to the game, instead of random bits of story line, and screen shots of concept systems. Expect to see animations, advanced charasets, as well as some very advanced systems.

Izy has decided to take some of the information, and reform it to more of the audience's liking.

So in addition, I'm bumping the topic. Everyone go to our first post, to see what we've done! Positive/Negative feedback is more than welcome. Believe it or not, feedback gives us ideas.

Sweet screens. I really like the menu.

Thanks, all input is appreciated... I'm thinking of going for a very 'natural' tone aesthetic as you can see, might be making the menu portraits into circular bits to the left of each of those rounded windows... should look pretty nice when it's finished and refined...

Lastly, another update. I finally have my cursed scanner up and running, and I've started painting the first drawn out version of one of the main characters; Sirus.

I was hesitant at first, but since I was excited, I decided to post a rough version of it.

Take into mind, it took me only 10 minutes to do this, so it's a little sketchy still.

I just want to give you guys more of a feel for what Atziluth is like.

Alright, this is my last bump. Since we've been updating our information a little more lately, I feel as though I should keep this topic bumped as much as possible. I re-posted a closer to finished version of our main character, Sirus. I've been painting on and off all day long, because I'm recovering from a recent illness.

So enjoy kiddos. Hopefully I'll get this stuff put onto the first post, so that you won't have to skip here and etc.

Crestfallen, as much as I want you to succeed, you cannot bump project threads without new information. So don't bump it as much as possible, else you may get in trouble.

*points above*

Well, perhaps you didn't read it correctly.

New information was posted. Not necessarily information that you read, but more graphic information.

It was necessary. =P

Very nice idea, and cool looking systems. I very much applaud your willingness t dive into dangerous waters, if you will. Often times many game makers are afraid to do just that. However allusions to various religious beliefs can create a much deeper feel to the story. And the story is the main reason I play RPG's.

Rye: Aye, I know. If I bump, it's no more than just once after a post.

Otherwise, it'd just be annoying. Even to I.

mythus: Thanks! I appreciate the enthusiasm, very much so. It was heavily referenced at first, but we've changed some things around. We've finally discovered a battle system compeltely different from any out there, and we plan on getting that into the works very soon.

Our ability system will be quite unique also. I don't wanna' spoil any thing, so I won't go that far just yet.

RPGs are basically just really good books, with a little more visual entertainment, as well as the whole....well. Game thing. XD

Although there are several RPGs out there, that are fun to play, but the plotlines make me gag, as though some one were sticking a toothbrush too far into my mouth.

Thanks for the input, I would be inclined to agree with you. I love stories, and to that end RPGs, where they've taken the time to create a story of real depth. Where you can tell they've taken their time to come up with this whole concept and researched every aspect of it. You get a real feel for that person's personal imaginary world. I found, when I came to work on Atziluth that with religious belief being such a major part of society throughout the ages it becomes the easiest thing to mould a story from and therefore to me has been a great tool to create with. Atziluth never set out to be (as I've seen posted.) 'Kaballah: The Game' in actuality if you look into the story at a deeper level it's quite the opposite. We've taken a lot of reference from religious belief systems, and primarily the Kaballistic belief in the 4 worlds and the 10 divine numbers, but purely as a case of recurring symbolism. There are other references in there too, allusions to both Judaism and Christianity. Metatron and other names are used in the hierarchy of the Grand Office, but purely because it fits with the story of the game. Other stories have done it, other games have done it. Loose references to religious figures. The references to Metatron and Samael in the Silent Hill games, the use of Lucifer and such in the Star Ocean series etc. All prime examples of religious references in a very loose sense. In Atziluth, the names and concepts allude to religious belief systems but at a core level have nothing at all to do with them. We're not preaching religion with this story, if anything I myself am the one taking an axe to the base of it's trunk. It's a story of the struggle of power, the fragile nature of social control and at it's very core is a tale of human emotion and the very nature of human existence.

Sorry, rambling over...
