I'm using them for cutscenes, not for in battle. The faces, as well.

I've scanned the relevant parts of her site and (no surprise) there is no mention of what terms of use would be for a commercial game. She writes that the copyright holder is Naramura, that you can indicate this by including the site's address and the name "Naramura" in your game, and inform her if you feel inclined to. Like most authors of materials like these, she's pretty casual about it all since typically only hobbyists would ever be looking at such a site.

If you still haven't gotten an email reply, you could try posting on her BBS at http://naramura.kdn.ne.jp/bbs.html (unless that's you who posted in English there already?). Japanese can definitely read English better than most of us can read Japanese, but that doesn't mean they read it well, so try to keep it short and simple. The person who posted there in English blabbered on a bit too much imo.

Unfortunately, there's no guarantee you're ever gonna hear from her. It's Japanese culture that they will often not reply at all when a situation is uncomfortable. In other words, the answer to your request was likely going to be a 'no'.

I always get weird errors with that BBS. It either says invalid host - sorry, or it tells me my e-mail address is wrong.

Wyatt, what you should do then, is recreate them, They will look a tad different but in credits just say they were based off Naramura's work, like, open them up in a Layer program, any will do really, and just on a new layer, go over the outlines in black, and if you ask me nicely, I could colour them for you.
